I can’t believe I was so adamant about Zion over Ja. Ja is gonna be a better version of Westbrook. This game is awesome. Tune in. KAT looks like he is gonna murder someone, and Memphis is so good at shooting. Like it looks like a video game.

that dunk to end the 3rd quarter was amazing, never seen a guy his size windmill and dunk over someone like that
Yep. I couldn't believe he got that down, and on the replay it was not even close; he had it and he knew it! My son is a big NBA fan and I enjoy watching with him, but he was in the kitchen when he heard me yell and he knew he'd missed something. He said: "dunk of the year!", and I'd agree.

That's another reason I like the NBA, my sons get into it. My 10 year-old knows more about the players than I do. Unfortunately he also loves the jerseys and shoes. He wears them to practice. It's fun.

Listed at 6'3", Ja dunks effortlessly! It doesn't even look like he is getting that high off the ground!
He took off from the dotted line on this one.

Taking off from the dotted line is really nothing, but dunking over a guy that's 6'7" that easily, is f'ing amazing! When he took off and cocked the ball, I thought he was just tryin to act like he was going to dunk it for the foul. Nope, he hammered it home easily. I think he's the most athletic dunker I've seen. Amazing someone that size that gets to the rim like that and that often.

There's also an element of fearlessness that allows him to even try that dunk. There are plenty of guys in the NBA capable of dunking like that. Its just rare that you see anyone try it, let alone to have a guy that small, that is that aggressive, and that willing to take off and attempt the dunks that he does.

Reminds me of the missed lob dunk Olidipo tried against Michigan his junior year at home. It would have been the best dunk in Indiana basketball history had he completed it. The fact that he even tried it was amazing to me. Ja has crazy hops...a lot of other NBA guys have similar or better hops than he does. What they don't have is the creativity and balls to try the stuff he does.

The Vic attempt you are correct, and he didn't miss it by much, If I was a Memphis fan I would be worried Ja will end up on his head one day, big guys don't like getting shown up like that and his frame isn't built for contact that high in the air.

I don't know what it is, but he's got something special for sure, between the quickness, moves and leaping ability. I think maybe some guys have good or better verticals, but there is an explosiveness to his game, I don't see in any others. It's just amazing to me how a guy that size can get in and dunk around such big bodies. We used to play a ton on an 8' goal and we could dunk on it with ease with no one around, but when we started playing games? No one ever got a dunk to go down that I recall, and naturally that's all anyone wanted to do. It was rare for anyone to eve try and dunk it. And, I had pretty good hops and at the time could dunk pretty easily on a 10' goal, but again, not with traffic.

Perfect example of the fearlessness he has. Played many a game on an 8' rim, with guys that played in college like me, and none of us ever attempted the dunks he pulls off. And many of us could also dunk easily on a 10' rim.

Its the same with those 360 layups he does. He just has a unique combination for creativity, fearlessness, and then explosiveness, to full those things off.

The first time I got a dunk on that 8' goal, the ball immediately came around and smacked me pretty hard in the kisser! Don't see that in the NBA either!

Man, another incredible playoff game last night: Phoenix vs NOLA. Chris Paul was 14-14 from the field and I think also perfect from the FT line. I gues NOLA's coach was on the Suns staff last year and Chris Paul started his career in New Orleans. Never seen so much emotion after a non-championship game. NOLA fans were cheering their young 8-seed team after the loss and without their "star" Zion Williamson. I think at the end of the 3rd quarter neither team had even missed a FT! It was a terrific and emotional game.

Brandon Ingram is the star in New Orleans, I would unload Zion in a heartbeat

Chris Paul is still a carrying the ball betch... and I used to really like him (same with LeBron).

true, but Zion is still the guy identified as the franchise "star", especially to start the season and I think fans and media thought any hope they had of making playoffs ended when he went out. I think they had 2 rookies playing a ton down the stretch: Jones and Alvarado? Don't know squat about their team, but those were 2 big finds if so.

Just don't see Zion staying healthy or that good to be honest, The Knicks would give up a ton for him

Not only the balls to try it, he had the wherewithal to protect them with his left hand! That’s next level “stuff”.

Stars have always gotten calls and he's a star. Carrying the ball didn't help him make 14-14 and that was an incredible performance in it's own right. Plus, hard to watch the emotion he showed for his teammates, opponents, former Coach and an NO family that apparently sort of adopted him when he got there and not like the guy. He's obviously liked and respected on every level by teammates and peers.

I totally agree. Super impressive and he's a future HOFer. Back when he was with NOLA, I was hoping the Pacers could somehow sign him.

I just think he's an a-hole who throws cheap shots and carries the ball, which is just part of the game now. I also think his insurance commercials are annoying.

MJ wouldn’t have missed that game winning lay up.

Seems to me that Ray Tolbert missed a monster dunk against UK. It bounced off the backside of the rim and went 20' in the air IIRC.
Yep I remember that one. And Ray was the best at literally beating himself in the head so Knight wouldn’t yell at him!

Yeah, what a douche for taking millions from a company who wants to pay you to film simple commercials.

They may be annoying, but he'd be a bigger douche if he didn't do them! Plus, for me personally, they aren't as annoying as the Subway commercials with Steph and now the gymnast.

PS, and another great NBA playoff game yesterday!
