IUWBB and South Carolina

We were up 1 at the half but had a poor 3q. Place was super loud, SC was playing at home which helped but their roster is stronger than ours.
I will miss Syd, Chloe, and Strip. You gave us many great games.

Only saw a few minutes of the second half, about the time SC made a run. The final stat sheet showed IU with zero offensive rebounds - how is that possible, especially when IU misses 30 FG attempts. Geez !

They had some good opportunities but South Carolina was too talented. I bet this will be the closest second round game for a 1 seed in the tournament

I heard that also. I wonder what the strategy or thinking is for that? Moren must feel our chance of getting an offensive rebound is so low we are better off trying to stop the transition game.
I have also wondered why we sometimes do not have rebounders when we are shooting free throws. I wish I could listen in on the coaches as they talk to each other and plan strategy. I don’t live anywhere near Bloomington anymore, but Iwish I could do something in the program.

Suggest Moren does not emphasize O rebounding or maybe that’s just how the ladies game is played these days. In IU’s win over Utah they only had 1 offensive rebound. South make that one O rebound in two games. Wow!

Yes, they were very guard/3-pt dependent this year. If they shot the 3 well, they could beat near anybody. The Sr post from TN was the most active all season but they were all about driving & shooting the 3. This was not the case when Holmes played because almost everything went through her.

While we didn’t win the game, there was a lot to be proud of. Only Texas, UCLA, and the Hoosiers held South Carolina to 64 points or less this year. To be ahead at half by 1 against a 1 seed on their home court was amazing. A poor 3rd quarter did us in, but the line before the game was South Carolina by 22.5. Eleven point loss turned out to be twice as good as expected.
