It was pointed out to me last year I didn't know shit about modern day basketball offenses. They were right. A couple of guys sent me links to a Stanford offense and something else. Once I watched those videos I could see what IU runs is normal modern day basketball but not enough threes. I also pointed out last year why shoot 3s when you can't hit 33% of them. You need that percentage for the points to equal 50% from two point shots.

I LOVE it when they run Tucker off a screen, sometimes Mgbako. I have never been a fan of pick and roll. I don't need the motion offense but I would like to see IU run more movement, more screens, MORE CREATING shots for others rather than pass 2' away so someone else can try a one on one move.

The guards and wings better pull through this year because they definitely don't have Ware or TJD to bail them out on offense and become unstoppable.

They have a lot of talent on this years team. I just don't have a good vibe about season. It will not turn out I'm afraid for what most IU fans (online and offline) want.

P 'n R is one of the first offensive things you learn as a little kid. It works. It's the other 3 guys standing and watching on the high ball screens we run that I don't care for.

Villanova ran 4 out offense something Woodson said he was going to run at Indiana but it's been more iso pick and roll offense. When done right can be very good especially with shooters.

If you plot the linear regression of effective field goal percentage vs either 3PA or rank of 3PA you'd probably have your answer about whether shooting more 3s "works" on a general basis. You'd have to do this for the whole conference or entire power5, etc to get a good picture.

It would take a bit of work for any layman without ready spreadsheets of data all formatted.

In general, the 3pt shot helps, but so do easy bunnies and free throws. So I guess maybe true shooting percentage vs 3PA per game, for the B1G.

I’ll point to Kansas. Kansas doesn’t and hardly shoots more than 20. They hit 7-9 a game. This notion that we have to shoot 25-30 a game is nonsense. We aren’t a good enough rebounding team to do that. What offense does Kansas run?
