Here at the Bart for IU vs. Ball State at 6:05 p.m. It's warm and windy. Connor Manous on the mound.

Manous gets out of the first inning after allowing a walk and single with two outs.

Logan Sowers strikes out with one out and a runner on third. Fineman up to get the runner in.

IU gets on the board with a 2-out wild pitch. Logan Kaletha comes in from third, and IU leads 1-0, B1.

HOME RUN: Seth Freed hits his 6th home run of the season way over the right field fence. It's tied, 1-1, T2.

Gorski and Cross reach base and Walker moves them over to second and third with two outs. Houston at the plate.

Houston watches a dirty curveball for strike three. Hoosiers score no runs in the second.

Brian Hobbie on to pitch for the Hoosiers after two innings from Manous. 1-1, T3.

Hobbie's first batter faced ropes a ball down the third base line, and is nearly thrown out by Matt Gorski but still reaches second.

Bases loaded for Hobbie and he draws a ground ball but it's hit straight up the middle. Houston dives to stop it and save a run but one comes across for Ball State anyway. 2-1 Cardinals, T3.

Seth Freed completes the back half of the cycle with a 3-RBI triple after his home run in the second. Hobbie is being replaced by Kade Kryszko. 5-1 Cardinals, T3.

Justin Walker is walked and brings in a run. Three straight 2-out waks with the bases loaded. IU trails 6-4

HOME RUN: Jeff Riedel puts one over the left field wall. Gorski didn't have a chance. It's 7-4 Ball State, T4.

HOME RUN: Logan Kaletha knocks his 7th home run of the season deep to right-center. 7-5 Ball State, B4.

Ryan Fineman gets a base hit. That's IU's fifth hit of the game. They have six walks. Runners on first and second with one out.

Scotty Bradley is hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out in the bottom of the fourth.

Matt Gorski brings in Sowers from third with a rope down third base line. Kirkpatrick fielded it well but couldn't gather it as he got to his feet. All runners safe. One out, 7-6, B4.

Cross strikeout and a Walker flyout end the inning. IU trails 7-6 headed into the 5th.

Ryan Fineman puts up a big shot that would be out on any other night, but tonight the wind is blowing. The ball dies in left for the final out of the fifth inning. IU trails 7-6 still.

Wyatt Cross brings in the tying run with a bloop single to left. Gorski comes in from second. Tied at 7-7, B6.

Houston and Kaletha are on first and second with no outs in the bottom of the 7th.

Both runners steal and the catcher double clutched. Way late on the throw to second to get Kaletha. 1 out. Two runners in scoring position for Logan Sowers, who has struck out twice and not looked good at the plate tonight.

With bases loaded, Ball State's William Baker gets a high shopper, and Tommy Sommer just had no chance to make a play on the ball. Cardinals tie 8-8, T8.

With Logan Kaletha at the plate, Gorski took off from second and safely stole third after a dropped ball, but he continued toward home after the ball ricocheted off the bag. Was easily thrown out at home to end the 8th inning, 8-8.

This is Sloan's fifth appearance. I've said it before, but this kid's going to be good here at IU. Great breaking and offspeed stuff. Surrenders a double though with one out.
