IU Takes on UAB, USF in South Bend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 18th ranked Indiana University Men's Soccer team travels to South Bend, Ind., to take part in the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament hosted by the University of Notre Dame. This will be the Hoosiers eighth appearance in the event, where they have posted a record of 10-3-1, including a pair of wins last year against Kentucky and Dartmouth.

SETTING?THE?SCENE
• The second weekend of the 2015 season sends the Hoosiers to South Bend, Indiana, to take part in the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament, hosted by Notre Dame.
• Last year at this tournament, Indiana posted a pair of 1-0 victories over Kentucky and Dartmouth.
• Dating back to the 2009 season, Indiana has won eight of its last 10 games at the Mike Berticellin Tournament in South Bend.
• Indiana opened the 2015 season with a 1-0 win over St. John's and a 1-0 overtime loss to No. 4 Notre Dame at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington.
• In the win over St. John's, junior Phil Fives scored his first goal as a Hoosier after transferring to IU from Akron.
• Also on the goal by Fives, fifth-year senior Ben Maurey recorded his first point as a Hoosier, picking up the assist, along with sophomore Grant Lillard
• The 1-0 shutout gave junior goalkeeper Colin Webb his 11th career shutout.
• Indiana went 2-1 in exhibition games prior to the season opener. After opening with a 2-1 loss to Valparaiso, IU rebounded to post a 2-0 shutout against Western Michigan and followed that up with a 2-0 shutout of Marquette in Fort Wayne as part of the Shindigz National Soccer Festival.

NEWS AND NOTES
• Indiana returns 21 players from last year's roster, including 19 letterwinners.
• Among those returning include junior midfielder Tanner Thompson, who was a First Team NSCAA All-American last year after leading IU in goals (6) and points (15).
Femi Hollinger-Janzen, a senior from Goshen, Ind., also returns for his final season after scoring five goals last year on his way to First Team All-Big Ten honors.
Grant Lillard, a sophomore defender, will once again be a big part of the attack as a defender that stands 6-foot-4 and scored five goals as a freshman.
• Junior Colin Webb played every minute of all 22 games in goal last year and posted a 0.96 goals against average and made 70 saves.
• The team features a freshman class of nine players and a pair of transferes in forward Ben Maurey (Brown) and goalkeeper Christian Lomeli (IUPUI).
• After qualifying for the NCAA Tournament last year, the Hoosiers extended their streak to 28 straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
