I’ll have to look that one up. Can’t remember. But I loved Pritchard… just a tough nosed kid that was a pretty good shooter. Can’t believe how close that team got.His call right after the Tom Pritchard thunder dunk is still the stuff of legends.

And Mike Davis was a very good coach. But was just caught up in the “he’s not an IU guy” mentality.I’ll have to look that one up. Can’t remember. But I loved Pritchard… just a tough nosed kid that was a pretty good shooter. Can’t believe how close that team got.
How close to what?I’ll have to look that one up. Can’t remember. But I loved Pritchard… just a tough nosed kid that was a pretty good shooter. Can’t believe how close that team got.
Must have gotten caught up in the "he's not an UAB guy mentality" and "he's not a Detroit Mercy guy" mentality too.And Mike Davis was a very good coach. But was just caught up in the “he’s not an IU guy” mentality.
My buzz. Was thinking Tom Coverdale when you said Pritchard. Coverdale in my opinion was a bad ass.How close to what?
‘02-‘03 season ncaa tournamentMy buzz. Was thinking Tom Coverdale when you said Pritchard. Coverdale in my opinion was a bad ass.
Different situations with those schools. Would never be able to recruit “difference maker” players. Davis did pretty well at IU for being the new kid on the block… just too much pressure and expectations after many years with the best.Must have gotten caught up in the "he's not an UAB guy mentality" and "he's not a Detroit Mercy guy" mentality too.
Please let me know how he was so much worse than the last couple coaches IU has had….and by the way, I think Crean was pretty good too. But just not the “standards” that we as alumni/fans expect…. Back to starting over… againMust have gotten caught up in the "he's not an UAB guy mentality" and "he's not a Detroit Mercy guy" mentality too.
Agree. Bad coach. Not a program damager.
I’m being serious… who are you referring to as “who wants the job”?The state of the program and the product on the court can be looked at as separate situations. The contacting of agents had already began. It's no secret who wants the job. We're in good shape.
I have my thoughts, but am not an expert on any of itI’m being serious… who are you referring to as “who wants the job”?
I just hope Dolson realizes which guy knows how to really coach, and gets his players to believe they are the best.I have my thoughts, but am not an expert on any of it

Thank you for the video. It’s crazy how bad Zeller and Olidepo played together…NOT!!!
Too bad my original response was really about Coverdale.Thank you for the video. It’s crazy how bad Zeller and Olidepo played together…NOT!!!
What he should get credit for is showing the fan base definitively that NIL is not enough to get the job done. He's gone. The next coach can fix that with a few phone calls. Especially with our payroll numbers (which Woodson probably earns some credit for, to be honest).
If you look at the stats RMK players haven’t made good coaches.Probably when Quinn said trust me. I love that Quinn and Woodson were part of something great at IU. But just because they were great players didn’t automatically make them great at everything else they got involved in. I’m sure that most can agree that Quinn is not a very good analyst on TV… but I kind of look past that because of him being a legend. Time to let those in charge do their thing.
This cannot be a serious question? If you cannot figure that out then you must not have been following things very close the last four years.
His call right after the Tom Pritchard thunder dunk is still the stuff of legends.
Agree with most everything.Mike Davis.....he's a great human being a good assistant coach. During Danes organized threat of mutiny after RMK was fired, the administration caved and named Mike Davis interim. That was our version of a Deibler moment. He got extended went to the final game and then recruited a helluva class after Bracy. Robert Vaden was tough as nails. It was way to soon for him to be a head coach and certainly not IU for a first gig. There's not a role on the IU basketball team that should be filled by a rookie.
Should we blame Lou Watson?4? Try nearly 30. Blame Woodson, sure. Blame the AD, Archie, Sampson, Crean, us and yes even Bob Knight.
IU has time to get this right. They will be done after their B1G tourney loss. The best coaches will be playing into March and some will be playing in late March.
IU likely won't be invited to any other tournaments and if they are, they must decline. Cannot have Woodson lingering beyond the B1G.
Exactly, doesn't Illinois have like 8-10 new players this year? They seem to be doing pretty well. Coaching makes all the difference. What he should get credit for is showing the fan base definitively that NIL is not enough to get the job done.
The players probably want guarantees this won’t affect their ridiculously high NIL payments. If Woodson doesn't pay attention, the Hoosiers may not even make the B1G tourney. They are fighting with 8 teams for the last 5 spots and only one loss in the loss column from last place in the B1G
Do not disagree in timing of him leaving. It absolutely should have been last season when it was clear to all he was not the answer. But he has not damaged IU. JMO.not in today's world, what we do his hang on to long, woodson should have been fired last year
PearlTo the OP's original comment about getting this hire right, the fan base is aging and losing interest rapidly. Indiana needs a sweet 16 and a 25 win season within the next 2 years. The next coach has to make the NCAA tourney in year 1. And, the next coach must not miss the tourney more than 2 consecutive years ever, while showing at least, youthful promise in the 2nd bad year.
It's possible to do, but there are some good coaches who would not be able to do that starting out. It means they need good transfers- aka "guess correctly" and then also start landing talented freshmen to build toward the future.
IL, UM, UK, ISU, UL... it's the coach.Exactly, doesn't Illinois have like 8-10 new players this year? They seem to be doing pretty well. Coaching makes all the difference.
