IU didn't do much at the plate in the early going and after taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st they found themselves in a 6-1 hole in the middle innings.

IU was going against one the top hitting teams in the country who came in with a team batting average of .343 which was 19th in the country. With a game tomorrow, IU used just two pitchers which was a plus. IU outhit the Patriots, 15-9, and was 15 of 40 for a team average of .375, while DBU was 9 of 34 for .265, well below their team average. The teams each had one error on the game.

After a slow start to the season at the plate, Tibbitts was the hero in this game with his bases clearing three-run triple in the 7th. IU had five players with multiple hits.

Tibbitts - 3 for 5 with a double and triple and 4 RBIs with a run scored.

Mitchell - 3 for 4 with a double and 3 runs scored.

Taylor - 2 for 5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Cerny - 2 for 5 with a double and 1 RBI.

Bode - 2 for 3 and a run scored.

Pyne and Mathison also had 1 RBI each, and Wiggins scored a run after getting a walk in his only plate appearance.

Foley shut DBU down for the first three innings, but DBU made him throw a ton of pitches and he ran into trouble starting in the 4th and 5th. Bothwell was impressive in relief and put a power hitting team down in order for three straight innings before having some hiccups in the 9th before getting the win. Both pitchers gave up a homer and had no WPs.

Foley - 4.1 IP, 3 hits and 4 earned runs, 7 Ks, 4 BBs, and he hit two batters.

Bothwell (W) - 4.2 IP, 6 hits with 2 earned runs, 5 Ks, and no BBs.
