LAST TIME OUT

• Indiana had a pair of chances in the early minutes with a shot from Femi Hollinger-Janzen, but his shot was just wide right of the net.

• Dylan Lax put Indiana up in the 17th minute with his first goal of the season, taking a shot from 25 yards out after a pass back from Foldesy. With Indiana shooting into the wind Lax caught NU goalkeeper Tyler Miller out of position as he sent it in high straight down the middle.

• The teams finished the half knotted at 1-all with teams even in shots at 6-6. Indiana held a slight advantage in corner kicks at 3-2.
• There was not a lot of action on the field for the first 15 minutes of action in the second half. Thompson had a corner kick for IU that was cleared out, and the rebound found Patrick Doody but he mis-hit his shot.
• Both teams had just three shots through the first 38 minutes of the second half as the weather played a major role in the flow of both teams' attack.
• In the 86th minute the Hoosiers had a tantalizing chance when Thompson fired off a rocket from 30 yards out that caromed off the inside edge of the left post and out.
• For the fifth time in the last six meetings the teams went to extra time. Richard Ballard had a shot on the IU counter in the second minute of overtime but Miller saved his attempt. The corner kick from Doody was picked out of the air by Miller. The counter began after a shot from NU's Joey Calistri was blocked out of danger by the Hoosiers.
• A corner kick from Tanner Thompson in the 95th minute bounced around in the box but after touching a few Hoosier boots went out over the end line for a Northwestern goal kick.
• Indiana dominated the second overtime but each time it got near the box found its shots blocked or picked off their feet. Andrew Oliver had three shots blocked in a five-minute period in the second overtime.
• It came down to penalty kicks to decide who would advance. Hollinger-Janzen was successful for IU in the first round, as was Calistri for NU. In round two Thompson's shot was good while Eric Weberman sent his high. Trevor Swartz and Oliver were successful for IU, as were Grant Wilson and Miller for the Wildcats.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE BUCKEYES...

• In the 48th minute Andrew Oliver at six yards out to put the Hoosiers up 1-0.
• Ohio State tied the match at 1-1 in the 77th minute when Kyle Culbertson converted a penalty kick, but the tie would be short-lived. Less than a minute later freshman Jamie Vollmer picked up his team-leading fourth assist with a long ball that McIntosh sent in off the right post.
• Webb was only forced to make two saves during the run of play but it was his third save with 1:07 to play that made the difference as he sprawled to his left and made a near-post save of Culbertson's second penalty kick attempt of the day. That preserved the 2-1 victory as IU improved to 39-4-3 all-time against the Buckeyes.
• Both penalty kick attempts were the result of called handballs in the box.
• Indiana put up 13 shots in the game, forcing six saves by Ivanov. Oliver led the Hoosiers with three shots, along with two from Hollinger-Janzen.

SHOULD THE HOOSIERS WIN...

• Indiana is 0-2 against both teams this season with a 2-1 loss to Maryland on October 19 and a 3-2 loss to Michigan State on November 5.

• This would be Indiana's first ever meetings against the Terrapins in the Big Ten Tournament. IU is 5-3 in the Big Ten Tournament against Michigan State, with the last win a 1-0 victory in the 2013 championship match.

I find it funny that IU was ranked #2 in the nation last week, but #6 in the BT!

The new format is kind of interesting, but I think it's good. It means a few teams can have home conference tournament games and sell some tix and let their fans who don't travel see a conf tourney game. And rather than a rotating site, the top seed earns home field throughout, which is deserved. Gives teams a little something extra to play for in the conf reg season.

Glad the semis will be on the BTN- I'll be DVR'ing this one.

Go Hoosiers

It's also funny that the Hoosiers did much better on the road than they did in the friendly confines of Armstrong stadium. Hopefully it works in their favor in Maryland.

Go Hoosiers!!!!

Didn't IU lose a game right after ranked #2?

I don't know what the final rank is but, I am sure, it is not #2.
