I may have both ranked too high. I remember Woody having some success earlier in his tenure after timeouts and halftime. Not always, but noticeably positive adjustments.
As a general theme, would you agree that the teams kinda embody the coach? That's one great thing I remember about Crean. His teams seemed to take on his attitude and play hard.
There were several things I didn’t like about Crean. I noticed early that he missed some easy adjustments that cost us some games. We had a terrible roster and we weren't expected to win, and no one mentioned them. But they never went away.
His substitution patterns during the games were maddening. The Butler game was the final straw for me. Anytime Butler had a crucial possession, or needed to break our momentum, they gave the ball to whomever Hulls was guarding, and they scored. On the last defensive possession of the game, we needed a stop to win it, and he subbed in... Hulls. I'm still pissed about it.
And at this point in my life, give me Sampson and all the off court shit you want to give. I'd rather be Houston right now. All the shit we put ourselves through, and for what?
