It seems that this team has had some issues in playing 2 solid halves.
It seems like we are sharper in the first half of games, especially defensively. Notre Dame was an exception. There are some serious limitations at looking at statistics that compare first versus second half stats, especially as many of our games have been blowouts.
teamrankings.com has some rudimentary stats, and I realize that they have to be served up with some healthy grains of salt, but:
Scoring defense (points per half and rank):
1st half: 25.6. #5
2nd half. 34.2. #96
Perhaps these stats are worthless. Perhaps there are more useful stats (like efficiency broken down by half), but I haven’t seen them.
