The problem is what happens next when Iran starts attacking our troops and bases. Then you have a full scale war and hundreds of thousands will die with incredible instability in the Middle East. Inflation and gas prices will explode.

I think the Israelis have planned this from A-Z ; the problem will be whether they will really have the leverage they need to create their version of what they might want the next Iranian government to look like...

I agree that it is unlikely that the Iranian people will get excited about the version of the Iranian government that Israel envisions. That would be like expecting Stephen Miller to be excited about the vision Rashida Tlaib has for the U.S. government.

The only way it works is finding a way to set the table for the Iranian people to choose a government that ends up being more broadly acceptable to Israel even though it isn't everything they insist upon. But that's a really challenging needle to thread.
