Is IU's concussion protocol more difficult than in the past?

Publicly Archie say's all the right thing's about it.
I just wonder if privately. He thinks J.C. ! Take a couple advil and let's go !
Our bench has like four guy's who cant play ..
And Davis looks like he's still on one leg. .
We're winning. .But the real meat of the conference is coming

From what I understand, it has NOTHING to do with a players toughness. If they don't score acceptably they can't play until they do. It's like if they don't meet the minimum GPA standards, except they have no control over getting a concussion. The coach nor player can do anything to get back on the floor, except get them healed until their score is back in the acceptable range.

HIPPA. Patients have a right to privacy. It is illegal for the coach, staff or anyone providing care to release any info, unless the patient approves of it. If a beat writer got a hold of info somehow, they also can not release this info to the public. The consequences of doing so are quite harsh, including jail time.
As someone that has lived with a registered Health Information Administrator, I asked the question of privacy to an expert. It isn't the same for athletic teams as it his for health providers. The team may have trainers that treat injuries, but they typically aren't creating a medical record for submission to an insurance company. Still, Archie should not disclose an injury without the permission of the player. The patient is the only person that can release their record without permission.

There is no reason for Archie to comment on medical issues as he is not a trained medical professional. Saying there is a lower leg injury or a player is in a concussion protocol is sufficient. Most players would approve of that level of detail and probably have given approval for minimal disclosure upfront. I would rather the public knew I was missing a game due to an injury and not because of suspension. I may not want the public to know the specific injury especially if there was a chance of playing professionally.

Our masters have spoken and we must obey.

IU probably has a policy not to release info even if the student and parent ok it. Us by nature are pretty secretive places.
it's too bad nojel's mom doesn't know race or hunter. maybe she knows rob?

I asked the question. If you have knowledge on it please share. Are other teams having players missing several weeks and months due to concussion protocol? I can never remember this happening at IU to several players before.
maybe you can never remember because you had a concussion

My guess is that it’s more than a concussion, probably a minor TBI. I had one in June and it really affected parts of my physical ability from vision, coordination, speech and endurance. Doctors gave me a 3-6 month recovery time. I attempted to play tennis 8 weeks after it occurred and fell down trying to take a few quick steps to a ball. My brain said go get it and my feet didn’t cooperate. Just had a friend pass away 2 days ago from a TBI after being hospitalized for 3 weeks. I hope Race fully recovers, but rushing back is a bad idea due to other injuries that could occur.

The question is, has the current / new concussion protocol, recently changed? Not the HIPPA privacy act. The current IU concussion protocol itself should not be a secret? Did it somehow change in the last year or two and become much more stringent on their return? That is the real question, has the IU concussion protocol itself changed from the past? And is the current IU concussion protocol the same as other D1 schools? If so why don't we hear about players from other D1 and B1G schools being in concussion protocol for 2 weeks to over 2 months?

Better safe than sorry.
