When I think of what coach runs the best offense AND pressures the perimeter, it's Josh Schertz. Could he recruit at a high level? If by some means we are in the market for a new coach next year, my money would be on Pearl.
I’m doubtful that we’ll be shopping for a new coach. While some feel that our boosters spending top 5 money puts pressure on MW to perform, I’ll fade that opinion and say the job pressure is now entirely off of him.
They spent so much money that it is assured he’ll be back. This team is making the NCAAs even if the wheels fall off.
Whenever the time comes, I highly doubt it's Pearl. He's old with baggage... admin not going to love that and overall he's not too appealing vs. other options. And I don't think we get a big name, that's hard to do nowadays. Plug into a good X's and O's staff to our big NIL and we can do very well...
Are we able to revisit this without Lifelong asking why on earth we would have this discussion?
When Woodson fired Fife I said the wrong guy got canned. Known from year one Woodson was useless.

I'd take any of the coaches from Creighton, Drake, St Louis, or Iowa State. Just off top of my head. I'm sure there are better.

Well, this is where Dolson needs to read the tea leaves in the bank on itself line PR battle against Buckner… this is where you look Quinn in the eye and you say that one of us has to be elected and you are going to need an awfully legitimate excuse to this miss me after what the football team has pulled off. That's been said here too. I agree, especially when you contrast it with the Cignetti hiring. I don't think Cignetti told him "If you want to hire Curt Cignetti, you need to come see Curt Cignetti ", followed immediately by getting on plane and meeting with him the next day.
Think about the balls it took for Woodson to pull that shit. You don't do that unless your potential boss has his boss is in his ear about it being the direction you need to go. You know Buckner had have had all that worked out already and told Woodson it was a done deal.
