My little girls will be taught that Katie Britt is a ****ing dipshit.

Child support obligations prior to birth? How the hell is paternity established? lol

Maybe one of you intellectual conservative geniuses can explain this?

Keeping track of women's pregnancies, seriously? Should we not also keep track of all the masturbating men do so we make sure those sperms aren't wasted?

We have to protect life, after all. Whether it's a blastocyst or a sperm cell apparently makes all the difference!

Too bad you don't want your girls to read, learn, and understand issues to decide for themselves. Sounds like you want to brainwash them in Hamas-like fashion.

Senator Britt's state (Alabama) has a maternal mortality rate on par with Mexico. There's an access to care problem for women who want to have babies that's not addressed here.

EDIT - Google says Britt has co-sponsored legislation to address the tragically high maternal mortality rates in the US. Too bad that more important effort gets less attention than this misguided idea.

You mean my little girls.

You'd know that, if we had a database.

According to this comprehensive study, access to care isn't the primary issue, but rather education and health literacy.

There needs to be action taken to address the high rates of women dying due to pregnancy-associated complications. Educating patients on warning signs can be a cost-efficient way of reducing maternal deaths...
Studies have shown an association between health literacy and adult literacy [5]. Health literacy is a patient's ability to receive and understand information related to their health in order to make informed decisions. Adult literacy is defined as the reading comprehension and writing ability of an adult. In a state such as Alabama, with a low average adult literacy rate, it is critical to take the time to verify that patients comprehend the information being provided to them [6]. Health care providers cannot assume that their patients have knowledge of potential health complications nor understand what steps should be taken if they experience such symptoms.

A report from 2018 compiling data from nine Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs) cited that 63.2% of maternal deaths were preventable [7]. Hemorrhage, cardiovascular/coronary conditions, cardiomyopathy, or infection contributed to approximately 50% of pregnancy-related deaths (PRDs) [8]. In addition, maternal death affects black women three to four times more than white women in the United States. All these PRDs are associated with warning signs that may be appreciated by patients in their own homes. The MMRCs additionally determined that one of the most common causes contributing to these deaths was inadequate education on warning signs and knowing when to obtain treatment. Something as simple as taking the time to provide information to patients and their families can save countless lives. However, it does not appear that all health care providers are ensuring that such education is accessible to their patients.

I don't see the egg and sperm cell separately being life. It is when both come together to create the miracle of life which can actually be seen through microscopes. I think laws should reflect what is going on in our day. As far as paternity is concerned a man should never have to pay child support until he gets a dna test. Maury Povich should have a full time job in making sure the man, "IS THE FATHER!" I also think the father should have some say in whether a child is brought into the world and not killed by aborting him or her. Let's say the man says he will take care of the child all she has to do is have the baby then the law should give life a chance. You seem to be making fun of the idea of protecting life. Who hurt you?

Multiple factors at play, for sure, including maternity deserts exacerbating lack of access. The Senator probably missed an opportunity to dampen criticism by not mentioning her efforts on maternal mortality, especially if she believes her database would help.
