Some acquaintances are luxury suite season ticket holders at Notre Dame. It takes A LOT of money to get their particular suites, and to hold on to them every year.

Yesterday evening they got a call that they don't get "their" suite for the playoff game, and that they needed to "log in" and pick out 6 regular seats in the stadium.

This is an example of just how much money this game is going to generate, and how big of a deal hosting the game is.

I honestly don't think the environment is going to be all that big of an advantage for Notre Dame. 90+ % of the tickets are un affordable for normal fans. That stadium is going to be filled with wealthy ND and Indiana alumni.

eh, not so sure. It's up to the season ticket holders if they want to sell or not, of course. But $110-$120 per ticket is pretty reasonable. I'd assume the suite thing is related to the CFP needing to host sponsors and muckity mucks

Could be...I know these people sold all but 2 of their ticket allotments to others. And they said pretty much "everyone they know" is selling most, or even all of their tickets on the secondary market. But they could be exaggerating because they're a bit pissed at losing the suite they've had for years, for this game.

ND golf buddy of mine got his 4 regular season tickets at face value a few weeks ago but sold them for $500 each because his family will be in Hawaii for Christmas. Could have paid for his entire trip had he waited a few weeks lol.

I've thought for a couple of days now that it sure would be nice if our deep pocket fans found a way to pack their stadium to some degree... Doubt that will happen but it would be nice...

If they are as smart as I believe they are they've already thought of that and are working on it... Whether they're that altruistic and committed to INDIANA Football is the real question...

The price per ticket pisses me off because I'm seeing tickets to the other games for $150 a pop. This game is over the moon!!

Down to $900 to get in. I think the lotto tickets are getting to ND fans by this Friday, and that could add to secondary market availability and perhaps lower prices. Hard to know. But yea it’s rough.

Cuban, if you're reading this, BUY ALL THE TICKETS!!!!! pass them out in b-town.

Question about hosting CFP first round game...does the home team get to keep the ticket revenue like a regular season home game? I am assuming that ND will get their normal parking, concession, and apparel revenue, but what about the tickets?

My brother is a OSU season ticket holder. They were able to purchase up to 6 tickets at $160 a ticket. They are using their 4 and selling the other two however they can’t purchase them until tomorrow. Thursday they will go to the general public with whatever is left over. I still don’t understand how you can already purchase tickets from a third party now, when tickets sold by the university to season ticket holders haven’t even sold yet? I have a few co workers who’ve said they have bought tickets. I asked my brother where the extra 2 tickets he buys will be at? (he usually has 4) his response was “I have no idea?” I’d be skeptical buying tickets early.

I also know an OSU season ticket holder. They said they thought that the tickets were going to be "non transferrable". I took that to mean they couldn't be sold on secondary markets digitally? But as you said, they're already on all the Stub Hub and Seat Geek sites. Tons of "guesses" going on right now.

I have read but might be wrong, ticket revenue is college and spread evenly with the other conference teams much like bowl games. Home teams will keep parking, concession and apparel revenue. I did see here that IU gets $3M-$4M for being in the CFP.

This is what I have read but may not be correct.

$4M for the round of 12 + $3M for expenses. Doubt it costs us much to get to South Bend, so I’d guess we pocket a nice chunk of that $3M.

ND already allotted tickets to the season ticket holders that applied. That's what is on SeatGeek and Stubhub right now and why it is only a limited supply. The tickets for those who entered the lottery have been sold and will be dispersed Friday. A good bunch of those will make their way on the secondary market soon. Get in prices will go down.

Notre Dame Stadium apparently seats roughly 78k people. The other stadiums in the first round games are 100k+ seat stadiums.

Supply and demand have created a higher priced ticket just from being held in a significantly smaller stadium. I guess if Indiana ever gets to host, it'll be astronomical because Memorial Stadium is small at 52k!!

Aside from the host teams, IU will probably have the highest profit margin of any team in the CFP...

Faber was right when he said "Knowledge is good." .... but, money is gooder!
TIC, to save even more money, IU should avoid the over the top gauging by SB Hotels by bussing up Route 31 and staying in much more reasonable accommodations in Plymouth, Peru or Kokomo.
