Indiana high school kids versus Indiana University recruiting

There are a lot of wistful posts reflecting the general sentiment: what if all of these great Indiana high school players who went to other programs would have made a difference for our team. That it was our recruiting fault.

That’s all well and good, but has anybody considered this issue from the kids’ point of view? Perhaps they are tired of being in the state of Indiana and would like to play someplace different—see the world, play in Nashville or in Charlottesville—stuff like that.

Then there is the issue of the school having the major or atmosphere they want if that’s important to them. Memento Larry Bird.

Or maybe it’s the fact that we haven’t made it past the Sweet 16 in their lifetimes. Or the fact that the only IU coaches they can remember are Tommy Basketball and Archie. Or that our facilities are closer to a mid major program than an elite one?

Iu facilities are first class.

And you are telling me UConn and Loyola and Butler are pulling in all the recruits because they have sweet 16s during these kids' formative years?

This reads like a spoiled pampered "me first, I train with my private shooting coach" entitled mentality.
