There's some players worth watching in each game, and only 2 of the teams playing today (Lafayette Central Catholic, Cathedral) have been to the State Finals before.

1A: Lafayette Central Catholic (20-9) vs North Daviess (26-3) 10:30 am
Albert Schwartz, Center (LCC): Has double doubles in 2 of the last 3 games

North Daviess 48 Lafayette Central Catholic 46 2OT
2A: Central Noble (28-2) vs Providence (20-6) 12:45 pm
Connor Essegian, Guard (Central Noble): Wisconsin commit averaging 26 PPG

Providence 62 Central Noble 49
3A: Mishawaka Marian (24-3) vs Beech Grove (21-6) 6:00 pm
Zion Rhoades, Foward (Mishawaka Marian): Looks like he has potential and might be someone to keep an eye on

Beech Grove 53 Mishawaka Marian 43
4A: Chesterton (29-0) vs Cathedral (25-6)
Xavier Booker, Forward (Cathedral): 6'10" and can play either inside or outside

Cathedral 65 Chesterton 31

Do you happen to know if any/all of the games will be free to watch? My family has a rooting interest in Mishawaka Marian and a grandfather in Tampa would enjoy watching the game.

EDIT. Took a look for myself and it appears all games today are free.

I think they'll all be free today. Last week, there was a "lock icon" on the listing and a message about registering to watch. There's nothing like that today

GREAT 1A game.
Couldn't ask for a more dramatic finish. Lafayette Central Catholic's down 3 gets fouled shooting a 3 with no time left in double overtime and has a chance to send it to a 3rd OT. Kid steps to line with no else around, knocks down the first and then...leaves the 2nd one short. Game over. Congrats to North Daviess for their 1st basketball state title.

Broadcast for Cathedral vs Chesterton game was delayed, but has started now. Players being introduced.

Cathedral putting a whipping on Chesterton. Up 36 at this point.

Chesterton only 29 points for the entire game. Is that a record? Not saying much for a 29-0 team.

Not sure but it is the largest margin of victory in a 4A title game.

Also, is the basketball talent that down in the northern part of the state? That was a pathetic display by Chesterton.

NORTH DAVIESS COUGARS REPRESENT!!!

I’m a proud Cougar, graduated from there in 97. Went to the game, went to the pep rally, and then went to the rally in town after the rally. I live 5 minutes from the school.

It’s impossible to convey what this means to this community. We’ve never won anything in basketball before.

The game itself may well have been the best game I’ve ever seen. North Daviess led most of the game. Went up by 10 in the 3rd quarter and then it seemed like they tightened up. Seemed like they started playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

Let’s just say there will be a lot of partying going on around here tonight.

Noticed during the Kokomo game last week that other than Travis Greyson, Chesterton had no other scoring options; shut him down, and we saw tonight what happens.

What was real interesting was how Chesterton had gotten the lead down to eight or six in the second quarter. Then it was like Cathedral woke up and then ran the score up to around 15 at half. Earlier in the season I saw Cathedral and thought they had a chance if they could get out of their sectional. They saved their best game for last night.

Kid could use a few of those 8,500-calorie shakes you buy at GNC.

Izzo was at the game checking him out.
There are some players on Cathedral I really like. Jaxon Edwards is supposed to go to Murray State but Greg Rakestraw wondered if he would open up his recruiting since the coach had taken the job at LSU. I noticed new Ball State Coach Michael Lewis was in attendance. I would hope he could make contact because Edwards would be a very good fit at Ball State. Did you ever watch Colin Hartman play? I don't know your age. The reason I bring him up is because I wonder if this Jake Davis is as good as Colin Hartman? I love the kid. He leads the state in charges taken. Notice in this game last night how he was always around the ball. He gave them many extra possessions by tapping the ball to teammates. I'm not saying he should get an offer from IU, but at least give him a look. He is a good outside shooter, passes well, and hustles on every play.

I was at Cathedral with Hartman, few years older. Granted I don’t watch Cathedral basketball as much as I used to but I think Hartman is a much better overall player. Davis definitely a better shooter but I don’t think his overall play compares to Hartman. Davis should get some D1 offers given his size and ability to stretch the floor but don’t personally believe he’s B10 material.

IUPUI would be nuts not to give a kid like Davis a look. They’ve really gotten away from making an Indy a priority in terms of recruiting.

The big class bball is starting to look a lot like big class football - Indy metro dominant. Cathedral had a tougher sectional than yesterday’s game. Hell in the Noblesville sectional Zionsville and Fishers lost on Tuesday. That sectional was stacked.

Great points. I wonder if Ball State could also be.a.good fit. I don't remember Colin in high.school so I appreciate your view.

Fun stat: The 2 teams that entered the state tournament undefeated lost their tournament games by an average of 27 points (Monroe Central lost to Carroll (Flora) 44-23, in their Regional Championship game, and Chesterton's 65-31 loss to Cathedral last night).

I think there's alot of talent in the "Central" and "North Central" (Hamilton, Tipton, Howard, Miami, Grant, Carroll, Tippacanoe counties) part of the state right now. 5 teams from that area made it to Regionals with 3 of them making it to Semi State (Kokomo, Carroll, Lafayette Central Catholic) had things played out a little differently, there could've been three state finalists from that area, instead of just one. Watch out for Oak Hill next year, they finished 18-6 and lost in the Sectional championship game, but they didn't have a senior on the team this year, so literally everybody will be back.

Homestead & Westfield both got upset and would have made the 4A Final more competitive if they went to the Finals.
