If we win out ...

It ain't happening, and I think the Illinois game will officially eliminate us but the consensus of the bracketologist seem to be...

Win the next 3 (MSU, Illinois and Rutgers) gets us back on the bubble.

Win one in the BTT puts us on the good side of the bubble.

Win 2 in the BTT most likely puts us in something like the play in game.

The tournament has never taken a team with more than 15 losses as an at large, but they have taken a 15 loss team.

The tournament has never taken a team that was less than 2 games over .500 as an at large.

So it would he a very rare thing.

However there was a popular tweet last night that said 13 teams have 6 quad 1 wins and 12 are very securely in the tournament....the other is us.

So we have the wins.

Makes those circus three's from Jackson, Cline and Bohannon (twice) really sting right now.
Tournament has taken 15 loses and remember this year criteria very different utilizing different data so past results not indicative of future so to speak. Add 20 game league schedule to equation and very different from historical measures, or at least potential

Supposedly Tarvik has an interactive tourney % thing on his site and from what I saw posted...

We win out plus win one game in the BTT and we have a 65% chance of making the tournament.

If we lose to MSU it drops to 18%.

If we beat MSU and lose to Illinois it drops to 40%.

So we really need to beat MSU in the early game Saturday to even begin to fathom it.
Archie said the team was shocked when they watched themselves play in the Minnesota game. I really can't believe it took them that long to be embarrassed about the effort or hold those making stupid plays up to ridicule. Game video sessions must be a lot different today. I remember making a mistake and working my ass off to not make another and risk getting the Edward Idiot Award. It was a statue with a head up the ass the winner got to take to school with them.

Whatever the reason, the effort and most of the dumb play has been improved. 13 turnovers in 50 minutes. The effort shows up in our defense. We could win our last 3 if we play like we have the last 2 games.

muted.... Harper wasn't playing during our initial hot start, nor was Davis or Thompson, so injuries are really a straw man argument.

Havin them available makes IU an even stronger team . . . So it is not a straw man.

With both Hunter and Thompson playing, an argument could be made that IU could have ran off 14 wins in a row.

But you pointed to "losing them" as the reason for the losing streak. My point is, it wasn't because they weren't playing during the hot start either. The only player I can think of that was newly out during the losing streak was when Phinisee went down for a few games with his concussion, but again, he returned for the majority of the losses, although I did think he wasn't playing back to the level he had been.

I agree, we should be better with them, so you could argue we should be better if we got in to the tourney, but the loss of those players, imo, was not why we had this horrid stretch... pretty much the same players we had when we were winning.

Maybe you didn't watch Duke, but we weren't beating them that night with Isiah and Scott May reincarnated to their college days. Arkansas, we really should have won anyway. Davis had an easy tip at the rim, and just gator-armed it.

If IU had Scott May and Zeke IU would have rocked Duke's world.
