If only 2 upperclassman stayed next year, who would you keep?
Race- he is the most versatile and able to play all over the court on offense. No slouch on D
XJ- for all the obvious reasons

Underclassman (only 1)
Jordan Geronimo- his upside is huge

I curious who others would want

Upperclassmen: TJD, XJ
Underclassmen: Bates

Agree with these three, although I wouldn't mind if Bates stayed, either.

Not going to count Galloway or Leal (esp Trey) - they are absolutely not going anywhere.

Hope they both go somewhere, but JG is going to be monster and able to play D at every position.

I guess XJ..
But honestly I want a whole bunch that have to introduce theirselves to each other.
At first .I was big on Race but he's undersized..6'10 player's with length just cause both our interior guy's problems..
He's really not got a stroke from three..And on D when he has to close out..I can't count the times he flies out hard. Just to have the offensive player go by and get to the rim..
I'm like..Doesn't Woodson point that out in film sessions and bitch..

The only right answer is TJD and X. I love Race but the right answer is one of the top players in the league (TJD) and one of the best guards in the league (XJ).

From a pure talent standpoint, that's obvious. If it was somehow known that getting TJD back meant another year of our offense consisting mainly of dumping it down to him, and letting him 'Charles Barkley' the ball and make a move... Whereas if he were to leave, and we got Race back, and that meant our "big" would move more freely inside and out, and the ball would move more freely in and out, and around the perimeter...???

I might still choose TJD...but we do need to fundamentally change how we play sooner or later. Might as well be this offseason.

I don't know if the team would have been better this season if we'd have opened it up more...but I suspect it would have given TJD and Race a better look at what their roles might be in the NBA. And maybe in an offense that moved the ball more inside and out, that was focused more on perimeter players movement and stuff...maybe our guards that struggled this year, would have gotten into more of a rhythm and played better. Kopp, Stewart, Rob, Bates...mainly.

To me its much less about who is playing for us next year, than it is about how they are playing. What style are they playing? Are they as good in minute 36 as they are in minute 16? We could be much less talented and experienced, overall, and still have similar results to this season, if we just improve those things I just mentioned. And it'd be a much more solid foundation heading into the following year and beyond.

I would still want both Race and Trayce back. Durr and Duncomb as our only bigs in this conference is scary!!

Though I agree about TJD and our forcing it to him, I think XJ has figured out how a PG is to utilize him. And if IU had, say a Stefanovic at the 2, and/or a Gillis at the 3, the it really could have opened up the floor. I see Jamison Battle of Minny as the perfect player for Woodson at the 3 or 4.
