Icepocalypse 2025.

The good news is I have 2 fine Odon Locker porterhouse steaks on the broiler, after marinating them all day in salt, pepper and butter.

I’ve got 2 sirloins for the kids.

I’m looking forward to a FABULOUS dinner and a great Sunday night football game on this snow covered night.

Also, my 3 outside dogs are next to me on the couch.

If you leave your dogs outside in this weather, I hate you. And I genuinely mean that.
I put my dog in her coat and carry her outside to the area I have cleared for her. Then back under the covers on the couch she goes.

Also, I've moved away from simple bread to sliced brioche, but it's an extravagance that isn't strictly necessary.

Best Christmas present I ever got the wife was her commercial grade Kitchen Aide mixer. We have home made bread all the time, and the last of the loaves she makes when she bakes up a batch always get turned into French toast.

Just 'cause I can...

The very minute I'm sure I'm done moving, I'm buying a commercial grade mixer. Such a great tool to have. I normally don't recommend expensive shit, but that one is worth it.

Yeah, when she started dropping hints she made sure I knew in no uncertain terms that the consumer model just wouldn't do. She had me so cowed that when I found what I thought she wanted on sale I flat ass showed her and asked if that was the one she wanted. Ruined any surprise, but at least I didn't have to send it back.

Have you gotten the attachments necessary to ground your own meat and stuff your own sausages yet? That's how you make it a gift for you, too.

I’ll be roundly rejected by purists, but no giardinera on ours…

So then invite Mc over and he can try something that is almost Italian Beef.

Though you gain mad props for horseradish. I never put it on Italian beef but on other beef it is great.

I was going to say, that seemed off, but you can never fault a guy for adding horseradish to beef. That's like chocolate and peanut butter - a combo that can never be wrong.

Oh, it's been a gift to me too from day one.

She wanted a pasta attachment this year, but the one she wanted was on backorder or preorder only or some shit so it will have to wait.

Maybe you could link that salt that transforms French dip roast beef into Italian beef

Zeke, of all the people I’ve ever interacted with on the cooler, you’re the last one I’d worry about when it comes to taking care of your animals in weather like this.

It isn't salt. The recipe I used cooked the beef in pepperoncini and giardiniera. But to make it for real, mine was an easy slow cooker, you will need all sorts of Italian spices.

You food snobs crack me up. My knowledge of Italian beef begins and ends with Nick's. Please don't ruin it for me and tell me they're no good. I love them, and it's been forever since I've had one.

Okay I found a place here that makes them. Does this look right? I wouldn’t like all that shit on it.

That's not the usual presentation, but all the necessary words are there, and quite frankly, it looks incredible. Go eat one. Let us know how it goes.

Also, if I ever accidentally stop in STL, I'm definitely eating at Vinnies. That menu is a winner.

Close enough for STL. Chicago style often gets au jus over the top. I skip the pickled veggies.
