Is everyone ready? I’m taking my daughter to work in the morning even though it’s not supposed to be snowing here by then but it’s supposed to be bad by the time she gets off.

Got plenty of groceries, toilet paper, and other sundries.

Got fuel for my kerosene heater should we lose power.

Fully prepared to call in to work on Monday.

Seems like I’ve got all my bases covered.

How are all ya’ll preparing?

I will be the last mother fcking car on the road to get my minion to his mom’s tomorrow morning. That’s all I’m thinking about

We went to pickup our click list tonight, the Kroger guy said they have maxed out on click list the last three days, in his previous 2.5 years it has happened twice. I asked if they had bread, he said white hamburger buns was all.

I don't really get it. Yes, for people in the deeper country, I do get it. I am in suburbia. I will be out easily by Tuesday even if it is 18 inches. Really I will be out far sooner, my Soul has winter tires and the Outback has AWD. People living in town, the time of problems is not going to be a week. Barring massive power outages. Back in the blizzard of 79, our main snowplows were road graders, we didn't pretreat, and most people had rear wheel drive. Times have changed.

You don't remember the toilet paper hoarding of 2020?

People are crazy.

I've got a flight at 5pm Monday. Hopefully no issues and I'm on it.

All I'm doing tomorrow is watching football, eating and keeping an eye on the bird feeders.

I like a decent snow once a winter, but when I see people going off on the weather forecasters when the snow doesn't materialize I think we've lost our minds. A lot of these folks can't even find their county on a map.

As far as these grocery store raids, I think folks like to feel like they are roughing it or in some type of emergency situation. In reality like you said, most will be dug out in 12 hours or less after the snow ends. I think we could get snowed in for a month and still have food in the deep freezer.

I'm not getting wound up about it. I'm prepared to deal with it, whatever "it" turns out to be. As long as we don't lose power, I'm not concerned. Delivery driving on Monday might be interesting.

Which Kroger? We did one on South Walnut after girls game. Place was packed.

I'm planning on being snowed in for about 12 hours. Anything longer than that will only be because I'm too lazy to shovel. Went to the store Wednesday, not to stock up, just for regular shopping, because I knew waiting for the weekend would be stupid.

I don't understand these people. They are going to be inconvenienced for about a day and a half, and their response is to buy nine months worth of toilet paper, 150 Hungry Man Salisbury Steaks, and enough batteries to power every flashlight they own until flashlights become obsolete.

You’re safe. No snow in Ft Wayne. 8-12 inches here south of Bloomington. My wife wants to build an igloo. Lol.

To be fair, them Hungry Man Salisbury Steaks and a Pabst Blue Ribbon is mighty fine eating.

Social media plays a role. The computer models showing 2 inches, and they existed as recent as this morning, are ignored.

Then there are people like my SiL. She has reposted every forecast within 100 miles of Lexington, where she lives, showing a snowpocalypse. Now it is every place in Lexington closing tomorrow. People see all that and it feeds the apocalyptic aspect.

Yeah, my son asked me about how much food we have and whether we’ll be alright for the storm.

I’m like I think we’ll survive. Sheesh.

People get nuts over this stuff.

I’m more irritated because I just know my work won’t be canceled and I’ll be expected to be there Monday morning.

I’d just like to highlight that Marv owns a Soul and an Outback.

Make of that what you will.

Oh no. My wife said today we are out of paper towels. It could get bad.

It’s currently icing here on top of the 8 inches of snow we’ve already received.

That just seems gratuitous and unnecessary.

To make matters worse, as of now my kind and benevolent employer still hasn’t canceled work for tomorrow.

And the cherry on top of the poop sandwich is I’m dangerously low on booze.

The good news is I have 2 fine Odon Locker porterhouse steaks on the broiler, after marinating them all day in salt, pepper and butter.

I’ve got 2 sirloins for the kids.

I’m looking forward to a FABULOUS dinner and a great Sunday night football game on this snow covered night.

Also, my 3 outside dogs are next to me on the couch.

If you leave your dogs outside in this weather, I hate you. And I genuinely mean that.

We had it come down steady late morning/early afternoon, then it pretty much tapered off. I'd call it 4-5". Unlike my wife, I don't look at the hour by hour forecast and plan accordingly -- I'll keep an eye out for what's actually happening and deal with what's in front of me when the time comes.

I wouldn't be surprised if I'm told not to bother coming in tomorrow (Monday). They'll be open and delivering, but I go in late to pick up the slack after the morning rush gets dealt with and then I go to Bedford. I doubt there will be a morning rush and the Bedford run may get cancelled. Just have to see.

We've gotten very little. About an hour before dark, I could still see some grass poking through. I didn't even bother shoveling. Nothing to stay ahead of, so I'll do it all at once tomorrow morning after it stops later tonight.

French Toast and bacon might be my favorite meal.
6 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
3 tbsp real maple syrup
1 tsp real vanilla extract (preferably homemade)
@ 1/4 tsp kosher salt
10-12 3/4” thick slices of French bread left out to dry for an hour or two before use to help it soak up the custard
Sauté in unsalted butter
Optional: sprinkle with cinnamon

I have tried many variations & recipes but I always come back to this basic version as my favorite. As a fellow French toast lover, do you have a go-to recipe?

I just found my favorite recipe. I took a screen shot. I going to use thick slices of fresh baked bread from local bread baker.

My French Bread was always simple using eggs and milk. Your recipe sounds fabulous!

Treat yourself & order some Nueske’s bacon from Wisconsin or even Bill E’s Small Batch bacon from Alabama.

That's almost ours minus salt and syrup. I use a Baguette, cut it around 3" and let it soak for a few hours on each side, but overnight is better.

I mix the cinnamon right in the batter, along with nutmeg and allspice. And I usually use milk instead of cream, but that's only because I don't usually keep cream on hand. I think I will make that change next time I do French toast, though.

Also, I've moved away from simple bread to sliced brioche, but it's an extravagance that isn't strictly necessary.

The sweetness of brioche works well, but we always have French bread on hand, so I use it & add the maple syrup to the custard to get it sweeter…
