they risk making the same mistake that Democrats made under Biden. Biden claimed a mandate. Could be that the electorate is swinging back and forth between parties. Best to go slow in that circumstance. Not fast.

What is happening in Haiti? Shots at an airliner?

What is Tua doing?

There’s always a “mandate” with every election. Both sides are stupid and we already know how this plays out. At midterms everyone will be pissed at the Pubs and the Dems will regain at least one branches of Congress. Politicians are all so predictable

Both parties make the same $^$# mistake every time they get elected. This election was NOT a mandate for the GOP but they won't be smart enough to govern like it wasn't. The votes were basically 51% for Trump and 49% for Harris..... far from a mandate to me.

Electoral college, popular vote, senate, house, so media runs with mandate.

It was a mandate to end the left’s progressive bullshit. Not a mandate for the right to do what it wants and go too far, which as everyone is saying it certainly will. Sad.

All the things the left screwed up they did the first 100 days when they had control. That’s why divided is so much better

Two thirds of Americans think we are on the wrong track
Almost that many don’t like Biden’s border policy
Clear majority don’t think Title IX protects trans men in women sports
Clear majority of parents like school choice
California put criminal leniency in the dumpster
LA recalled Soros DA
Most don’t like the electric car indirect mandates
Most don’t like the green agenda
Most don’t like student loan forgiveness

There is a clear mandate in this election. Trump dominated even though he has significant character flaws. If Haley had been nominated we are talking <400 electoral votes.

Thst part I will completely agree with. However, the GOP will take it as the right to do what it wants and screw up everything by going too far.

And even with all those things Harris got 49% of the votes.

I wouldn’t read too much into that. The polling data shows the democrats are way in the minority on almost all issues, and the Harris campaign responded by not mentioning issues. She campaigned only on Trump hate and silly platitudes. I’m convinced she got millions of Aloha-type votes, not issues but Trump temperament.

It has been a long time since one party and political philosophy controlled all three branches and a majority of the state legislatures.

On top of that, Trump and his GOP have had plenty of time to plan for a second chance at remaking the country great again. This, after all too many years (in their opinion) of Dems and some Pubs taking us down the wrong path.

In Missouri this year, and Florida in 20, referendums have increased minimum wage. The GOP has resisted.

Almost every referendum that has expanded abortion rights has had a majority, even in red states like KS and FL .

ACA polls very well, both the President-elect and Speaker want to have it

Polling shows support for energy policies you hate. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-r...says-about-americans-views-of-climate-change/

The infrastructure bill remains wildly popular https://navigatorresearch.org/the-bipartisan-infrastructure-law-remains-broadly-popular/

Only 46% of Republicans support gay marriage though it is above 60% nationally.

Not only temperament. Don't forget he's aging, and I honestly believe he's mentally unstable. I still firmly believe that but hope his staff and cabinet can keep him in check when he's our President.

If the pubs back the feds off on much of the items you listed, not get involved in other countries' business, and do nothing else, I'd call that a success. I think they're going to have their hands full just dealing with Ryan's tax reform expiring on the individual side.

Anything the dying Republican party claims is wishful thinking.

The not-socialist political piece of the electorate has moved significantly away from the reach-around party of McConnell, Cornyn, Chaney, et. al., towards the libertarian alternative right.

And the Christian Nationalists are just beginning to assert their potential. Popular Culture is pulling hard in that direction.

Anyone have an idea why Vic Ramsey has not been named to the list of Cabinet level appointments?

I'll make you a bet that it doesn't happen this time. The right, as in their name, does the right thing and they roll 2026 too. If I am wrong, you will still see my post making my next predictions!
DEAL?

The Republican's won't screw things up by 'going too far', they'll screw things up the same exact way the Democrats do, by not knowing what they hell they are doing and running things by government directive anyway. They'll behave like RINO's while claiming they aren't. And so their new shit won't work, same as the old shit only tweaked a little.

If they'd move Libertarian, free up the health care system, trade, they'd have a chance. Now, on the border, they should use the government, it's an actual delineated power, so maybe they have a chance there.

A quick to do list:

  • Pass Bitcoin friendly legislation allowing banks to self custody it
  • Create a Bitcoin Reserve
  • Lock down the Border & Deport violent offenders
  • Slash regulations and DOE (others if possible)
  • Cut 3-5% of the budget (excluding SS & Medicare)
  • Cut Taxes
  • End the war in Ukraine
  • Increase Energy output

Wouldn't argue, other than Haley.

My opinion; A lot of Trump voters would have passed on the Presidential selection if Haley were on the ballot. She did little to distinguish herself in the run up to the election.
Vance was a great choice.
No baggage, compelling back story of achievements in the face of significant challenges in his youth..intelligent, attractive, grounded, mature but still younger, with a great future...

When everyone wants to end DOE, do you want to end federal money going to universities? Will that drive up tuition even more?

I do not know if the money described in the link flows through DOE so maybe this is a non-issue?

The actual GOP mandate is to take credit for inflation cooling, the border becoming less of a problem, the economy growing, and wage growth to outpace price growth...you know, things that are already happening.

The mandate they'll assert goes way beyond that and is likely to make for a small mid-term correction in 2026.

I’m not sure if it flows through the DOE or not. If it did, I’m for ending it.

If I want my neighbor to teach me how to build a pergola, should the government be involved in, paying him to teach me, and then me paying them back?

It's not about money. The attacks on the DOE are rooted in the perception that higher education is too left-wing, and that for some reason, it is the federal government's fault this is the case.

I wouldn't say "fault", instead, casually forced a breading ground. A pet-re dish so to speak. which morphed Covid (for example) long ago.

Trump must get a spot in his Admin for Victor Davis Hansen! Give me a repeating podcast of him and Larry Kudlow talking, I'd sleep with a smile on my lace.

I don’t think the federal research money goes through the DOE. It goes through the EPA, NIH, FDA, department of energy etc. That money will be there with or without the Department of Education.

That’s not why I attack the DOE. Our K-12 education system was below standard for the “industrialized“ world when we created the DOE. K-12 is worse now. Like almost all of government, the DOE has become a political tool and as a result failed in its core function. The most conspicuous recent example is Obama’s attempt to break the school to prison pipeline with leniency and lack of school discipline for minorities using the DOE for that purpose. Those kids are now young adults and petty crime is so rampant in some places the cops don’t even investigate or report it.

That’s ridiculous, if true. Are you saying the GOP wouldn’t vote for Haley for some stupid reason? You sound like a never Trumper with that nonsense.
