I have a strong feeling when it's said and done that both....

We are not getting Watford.

Archie tried, but Trendon made it known from a very early point that he wanted to create his own path. It's nothing against Archie. It's nothing against IU. He just doesn't want to go here.

And for our resident know it all, our previous coach didn't even invite the Watfords to previous Hoosier Hysterias. Let that sink in for a minute. You have a legacy recruit, a national recruit, and he didn't get invited to one of the biggest events we have. And yes, they noticed. It was out of respect to Archie and the job he did to even get us on his top 4 list.
how do you know he wasn't invited?

Someone beat you to it...and I said it doesn’t happen often. I never said it didn’t happen. JFC learn to read.
Wow. Touchy much. I mentioned Garrett and Smart because I thought it supported your observation that it doesn't happen often, but it does happen. Coach Knight, for years limited his recruiting to four year players from Indiana, Ohio and Illinois. As competition increased for this talent, he had to broaden his scope and look at JUCOS. I believe Keith Smart said when Knight approached him he said he wanted to build a team to win a championship. When Knight needed a role player, he brought in Todd Jadlow. It boils down to knowing what talent we need and looking at all sources to obtain it. Four year, JUCO, grad. transfers, one and done all have the potential to disappoint or be a home run. F.Y.I. I agree with most of your observations.

Duke is too late to the party. Coach K is getting old and nearing the end.
I think he looks like hell these days, looking like he needs to give it a long rest. It will be interesting to see who replaces him...what school loses their great coach.

When EF Hutton talks, people listen. The same could be said when a mother tells her son, “Son, it’s Coach Bob Knight on the phone. Do you have time to talk?”. I’m not sure Archie has earned that kind of respect just yet.

what is he, 70?
Coach K is 72. I remember a few years back he had to take a leave of absence for a year, citing "back problems". I always wondered if it was something stress related. He's always looked (in addition to the human embodiment of a rat, along with actor Richard Gere) to be pretty tightly wound on the bench, though not as tightly wound as, say, the white towel-sucking Jerry Tarkanian while at UNLV.

Exactly, and his recruiting is sure showing it, right? They're not late to the party, he's a fallback for them. They're at a different level that we are. If they're involved, they're a threat.
