Just in case you want to understand more of the facts. Personally, I think the right to peacefully protest should be protected regardless of whether or not I agree with the protesters.

What she did was dirty and unamerican

She must have backed down because there were tents up in Dunn meadow this past weekend
Ahhh….I long for the good old days of my “Shanty Town.”
Live in a tent for weeks. Don’t go to class. Piss and poop in a bucket. Play hackey-sack for 12 hours.
Take me on down to Shanty Town. The promised land. As close to a slice of Heaven a college kid can get.

You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine.
You always send police to a protest. Protests always attract some element that is in it for something other than protesting. Large gatherings of people passionate about anything will raise the temperature and create an environment that could lead to non-peaceful means. To not send cops would be a dereliction of duty.

She changed a decades old policy the night before the protest regarding unapproved tents and then had police aggressively arresting them the next day for not knowing the new policy

I think we should include the facts if going to debate on appropriateness of whitten's actions.

And I doubt police presence on a 24/7 protest in dunn meadow is normal. They weren't there this past weekend and I don't recall past protests requiring police either. Whitten called them to enforce a policy she changed less than 24 hours prior.

Regardless of when she changed it, they violated the policy.

I thought you wackos were all for cops busting heads during protests that could turn violent?

You would have loved it if the cops would have shot an unarmed protester trying to enter the Union.

Exactly, she wouldn't rollover for the anti-Israel protesters like most of her brethren around the country. The bureaucracy can't buffalo her and it pisses them off. She's got broad shoulders, a hardened chin and doesn't mind getting dirt under her fingernails. Just what IU needed. Best IU hire since RMK.
She sucks in more ways than one...even leaving the campus protests out of it.

I bet you're a big 2A guy, aren't you?

And then two days later, they let people violate the policy...and they're still there.

All campus policy changes need a time for review and comment . She circumvented written procedures on purpose. Being in compliance, that is a big error. And if you circumvent procedures on purpose in one area, you probably did it in other areas.
