It sounds like this Smith kid could have helped IU when JHS is out. Maybe MW should have offered him the opportunity.I think that people underestimate how solid a player Indiana Mr. Basketball is. Remember when Knight had a lock on them!

We have one on the bench gathering dust for 2+ yrs. I’m an 80s kid…and have accepted that the 80s are long gone. Didn’t see too many Indiana kids (or even American kids) in that AZ lineup that kicked our asses on Saturday. Get the right players for the program. I don’t care if they come from Mars, as long as they can play D, rebound and shoot the ball.I think that people underestimate how solid a player Indiana Mr. Basketball is. Maybe my Indiana roots are planted deep. But no one does it better than the kids from Indiana. We hav

So which of our freshman should not have been recruited and/or who should have been booted off the roster in order to add him?It sounds like this Smith kid could have helped IU when JHS is out. Maybe MW should have offered him the opportunity.
Edey isn’t only scoring on dunks. They get him the ball down low, he faces the basket and scores. We have no one to stop him. Stopping him would be getting lucky with TJD drawing 2/3 quick fouls on him.You don't need to guard edey much if you guard the other players that feed him the ball for easy dunks. I have not seen them play this year but if he is similar to last year...he creates nothing except elbow strikes.
Either Painter is a genius or lucky. I don’t think anyone thought Smith would be as good as he’s been.So which of our freshman should not have been recruited and/or who should have been booted off the roster in order to add him?
Can’t take everybody.
Mine are as well, but the sentiment is mostly just that any more. Alford and Bailey days are long goneMaybe my Indiana roots are planted deep. But no one does it better than the kids from Indiana.
12-8 would have tied for 4th last year and been 5th in the conference the year before that.
UNC making the NC game last year with their starting backcourt returning is factual.Anyone can say anything. Do you have actual data to backup these claims?
UNC is impressive in name only. They aren’t any good and yet everyone acts like that was a monumental win. A good portion of the Big Ten would beat UNC.Not sure. Our best beats Purdue's best though. Their guards/wings wouldn't be able to handle a game like we played against UNC.
UNC will settle in as a top 20 team.UNC is impressive in name only. They aren’t any good and yet everyone acts like that was a monumental win. A good portion of the Big Ten would beat UNC.
This season sure flushing the Crossroads looks ok- but I live in Indy along with an absolute ton of HS talent- I hope IU can play some games up here again versus UK or whomeverUNC will settle in as a top 20 team.
Beating them is great but most important to understand the win in the context of a big national spotlight game complete with all of the external distractions.
That can’t be replicated without the right programs or in deep dance games. IU has already has two with one more coming.
Win or lose, these are excellent opportunities to prepare for the season and the dance.
So glad we flushed the IU crossroads classic for this.
Right. They will get these big events scheduled in Indy as well. This season sure flushing the Crossroads looks ok- but I live in Indy along with an absolute ton of HS talent- I hope IU can play some games up here again versus UK or whomever
Was the crossroads replaced with KU? UNC part of ACC/B10 challenge , and Xavier part of Gavitt games (b10, Big East)? Assuming we don’t play Arizona again, but at some point we are scheduling the pUKes. (?). Trying to keep up.
BumpTwo games into league play and we are 1-1. Penn State beats Illinois in Champagne. Rutgers got hosed on a call in Columbus or they win on the road. Nebraska damn near knocks off Purdue in Lincoln. I think the competition in the league is as strong as been in 20 years. Always a grind, but at another level this season. Whover wins the league will do it with 4-5 losses. What say you on the number of wins IU has in league play?
Im guessing you probably think a lot of us want to change our votes after today’s performance?Bump
I get woodson has the old school mentality of iu play the best. But when you arent on par whats the point you just get embarressed. Build a program first before scheduling kansas on the road.Im guessing you probably think a lot of us want to change our votes after today’s performance?
Have you (or anyone else mad about playing KU or UA) also posted complaining about weak pre-con schedules?I get woodson has the old school mentality of iu play the best. But when you arent on par whats the point you just get embarressed. Build a program first before scheduling kansas on the road.
Some (Izzo, Few, Calipari) would argue that this is exactly how you build a program - play the best to see where you are as a program.I get woodson has the old school mentality of iu play the best. But when you arent on par whats the point you just get embarressed. Build a program first before scheduling kansas on the road.
Perhaps. Mainly to get more people to vote who are yet to vote.Im guessing you probably think a lot of us want to change our votes after today’s performance?
My vote was 13. Yesterday’s “performance”won’t get us 8.Perhaps. Mainly to get more people to vote who are yet to vote.
Maybe we can pull his calve hairs out while he has the ball underneath.Edey isn’t only scoring on dunks. They get him the ball down low, he faces the basket and scores. We have no one to stop him. Stopping him would be getting lucky with TJD drawing 2/3 quick fouls on him.
Based on the 2 games I've watched where they struggled (Davidson and FSU) the plan should be to let Edey get his and focus on no easy 3s or garbage points from Furst. Both of these games saw them trailing at some point.Edey isn’t only scoring on dunks. They get him the ball down low, he faces the basket and scores. We have no one to stop him. Stopping him would be getting lucky with TJD drawing 2/3 quick fouls on him.
If we want to be a Kansas we need to experience firsthand what it takes to beat a Kansas. We won't get there playing cupcake mid-major games. I like the schedule, I wish the team had brought a better effort. But maybe after enough of these losses they will learn to do that. I have my doubts about the upperclassmen if they haven't learned that by now, but the new guys need to see that just showing up with "Indiana" on your jersey isn't enough.I get woodson has the old school mentality of iu play the best. But when you arent on par whats the point you just get embarressed. Build a program first before scheduling kansas on the road.
Bump. Vote away. Just lost to Iowa. Injuries mounting. Zero defense. Zero killer instinct. Cannot close out games. Rinse. Repeat. Two games into league play and we are 1-1.
