24 games into the season I feel the same as the day after the Eastern Washington game.

Please list any suggestions that you have ... to watch IU games and leave with zero frustration. I know there is a group of people out there so I should get a lot of good positive suggestions.

Help me from going insane after a game like yesterday.

At least it's a 'W'

You could focus on the results and not the style points

A win is a win. If your inner psyche demands that a win conform to specific parameters, leaving you anguished if that doesn't happen, then you could easily help yourself by either not watching more IU games and simply waiting until the following day to get the journalistic report. Another poster put it differently, but with the same message.

I recommend

quaaludes with a fifth of Blantons every ten minutes. Okay, no!

Being a fan means dealing with the ups and downs. I grew up with IU being a major factor. I was at IU when they won a championship. It's a great experience. It also makes it harder than hell to put up with poor play. Appreciate the players and team that you have. Root for them. It's not the coach. It's the players.

No problems here

But if it bothers you that much you could go cheer for UK. They're the best money can buy.

When exactly was this magical time...

when we won every game by 30 and never did anything to frustrate fans during the course of a game? I will take a Big Ten win any day.

A little perspective...how many thought IU would be 17 - 7 and 7 - 4 ?

at this point in the season. No one. Everyone thought the last 6 games of the B10 is where IU would make a move. Well, in my opinion, this team is ahead of the prognosticators. So win 5 or 6 more and wow. What a season! that would be 22 - 9 or maybe 23 - 8. Fantastic for this team.

I haven't gone insane watching an iu game in a long time. Were not good enough to get worked up over for those of us that have seen good iu bb. I get more worked up watching my kids soccer games but to each his own. Maybe one day iu will be back and the excitement will come back.

Crazy......

Most people, including broadcasters, find this team exciting. So do I. I love this team. Park the agenda and enjoy!

Same amount that

predicted some fans would be happy being the 51st rated team in the country with the 264th ranked defense while playing with no post players and still over-recruiting and in our 7th year of perpetual rebuild - after screaming "we're back" in 2012?

When I was younger..

I measured by the Calendar...... But that got boring so I changed to measuring with

A clock, oh the hours soon took to long

I then counted seconds........ Still unhappy

I miss the calendar now that I am older.

I found that I had a jar that I liked...

everything I like fits in it.....

If it doesn't fit............DAMN jar..

...............

Interesting that we are so jealous of UK that we have to talk bad about their coach and team in order to try and justify what is going on at IU.

Uh huh.

No one ever speaks poorly of a historical rival, right? And justify what? We're 17-7 (7-4). We're in 2nd in the Big Ten. I'm not doing cartwheels or anything, but I honestly have no idea how some of of you manage to have families with the amount of angst that gets spat out daily here. How in the hell do you deal with real problems in your lives?

Re: A little perspective...how many thought IU would be 17 - 7 and 7 - 4 ?

Agreed but winning, however ugly, is not enough for some of the prognosticators... The prognosticators, who thought we were doomed to a losing season for now and forever seem to have the following beefs: The mystical mediocrity loving, the lack of big man recruiting, substitutions, bad looking defense and the low attendance of an early Sunday afternoon game. Some are even "chicken-littling" next year with baseless rumors of mass departures. However because of this winning, a backlash has manifested with the realization that the campaign they were hoping to mount has lost the wind in it's sails.

Re: Crazy......

Actually "alot" isn't a word ;) But a lot of people including me enjoy seeing a team playing with guts. And this team has that. Style? Maybe not.

UK

You obviously don't know me ... I wouldn't waste my piss on that UK program. There is nothing politically correct to describe the hatred I have for them.

Come up with a better answer than follow UK ... genius.

You're wrong on the agenda accusation

I have no agenda, so guess again. I just enjoy watching good quality college basketball.

OH Phack you embiciles

We used to measure things buy win and loses. Now we hate THE man so we change the bar... You all are the equivalent of a spina bifida patient in a limbo contest.

the measurement WAS ability to adjust to what you have to play with

Then it was no big men, we can't rebound

Then it was you can't win without the collectives glory hole down low.....

All have been proven wrong... But wait the other measures (polls and statistical figures) say it can't work...........17-7 .......

17-7 with 7 more phacking games in regular season... 17-7

17-7

17-7

OH Shall I remind you, 17-7..........................

ok, I am done and going back to my...... Beer brewers guide on the best first batch of Malt Vinegar..

It used to be

The coach only had to teach the mean to win and enjoy it..........

Now the coach has to teach the FAN base to enjoy winning.

Damn that really should pay well. ..... shouldn't it.

Re: A little perspective...how many thought IU would be 17 - 7 and 7 - 4 ?

Well the mass departures have to do with already over by 2 and the new recruiting of Edwards, Dillard plus Bryant. Bringing in 5 would be mass departures.

Funny thing is...

The Crean crowd is doing cartwheels over the year we are having. Probably will hang a banner if we finish in top 4 of BIG

Speaking of Eastern Washington...

...I was surprised when they showed IU's resume they listed IU's good wins, and for bad losses it said none...thought Eastern Washington would be considered a bad loss...

Re: Speaking of Eastern Washington...

Had to be an error....losing at home to a Low major. We are the only team from a big 5 conference they have beaten.

Yep, I feel the same way...

I don't set my weekend activities around IU games anymore.

I don't see my IU fan friends setting their weekend activities around IU games anymore.

My pulse doesn't race when I watch the games.

I know Crean will win some battles but never the war.

Some are OK with that. I find it sad.

Think of what Dean Smith told his team in a heat of the moment game, and I paraphrase,....There are two billion people in China who couldn't care less as to which team wins this game.

In effect, I think the coach was simply trying to say, as important as the game is/was, there are many things in this world much more important.

I'd suggest it was a time...

...in the 70s, 80s and early 90s when IU had a coach who all fans knew was capable of taking a team to the Final Four and beyond in most seasons. Those teams got better as the season progressed and peaked at the right time AND were led by someone who could COACH.

Sure, IU lost games back then - many of them - but there was always a belief that great things could happen.

No one I know has that feeling about this program anymore. Many are simply pleased with the likelihood of an NCAA tourney appearance. That's the new ceiling.

How many people would have thought that the Big Ten would be

this bad. 7-4 in this conference is a good team. Sad

Well, if you read his hypo

And his scenario played out, those likely wouldn't be our numbers. We would probably be something like a 4 seed, and yes, a lot of fans probably would be happy.

I doubt most fans care much about the Kenpom numbers, but if we end up a 9 or 10 seed, I doubt most fans will be happy.

My feeling is that we have a long way to go and I am going to see how it plays out before I decide whether I am "happy".

Looks like you are feeding crap on a basketball forum

guns, alcohol and TANNING BEDS.....LOL

Is Tan Tommy a client of yours?

How many of those 17 were teams ranked over 300 ??

You have a short memory. I hope IU wins every game, no matter who is calling the shots.

So, since you are new to the neighborhood, explain to us what happens when IU plays a "March Madness" caliber team on the road? Do I need to list those for you?

I have talked to many friends and fellow fans about this.

This is not meant to be a shot at anyone, but this is the God's truth for me the past two years:

I have found that I have to ignore the sidelines, try to really not pay attention to game substitutions or who's on the floor, don't think about strategy too much. Don't be annoyed by soft defense, or switching defenses that don't make any sense. I can't be bothered by quick shots or dribbling into traffic and silly turnovers. I just try to focus on what looks good on the offensive end and go get a drink or something out of another room until we get the ball back. I also don't comment on friend's negative comments because I don't want to "get them started" on a rant. I also don't check my text messages when any of the above is happening because if i answer, then there will be a torrent of negativity and that doesn't help anything.

I will always be a fan and i will always watch, even if we are 5-26. That's just me. But here's what i have seen from friends and fellow fans:
[/B]

There are several stages that go something like this:

I. You stop caring as much through time. You still watch, it hurts a little or bothers you, but not nearly as much. The wins are not as high and lows are not as low.
II. You kind of go numb to it and there is no emotion afterwards, win or lose.
III. You DVR it and you may, or may not watch it, not really caring either way.
IV. You begin to forget what time they play. Even if a friend reminds you, you probably won't remember to turn it on.
V. You become the bandwagon guy. You only watch if they are really good or only watch really NCAA tournament games, Sweet 16 or Final Four, depending on how despondent you have become.
VI. Complete Apathy.
