During Coach Wilson’s early years quite often it seem that the defensive secondary kept at least 6 feet away from receivers when they were running their routes. I’m glad those days are behind us.

Yes, under coach Allen most receivers are close to the DBs and stay with except when the DB is fooled by mid-route moves. Improving the rush on QBs, especially with coach Peoples as the DL coach and some of our young DL players, I bet we will get a better pressure on QBs.
That has come with better talent at the position. Started with KW and Allen has continued.
When I was on campus (Cameron years) the fans would all complain about the DBs lining up too far off the LOS. One time RMK randomly showed up at FB practice, went to where the DBs were practicing and started coaching them to line up closer to the LOS and play tighter coverage. It was in the IDS that RMK was emergently trying to help the D. Of course the FB coaches weren’t happy but the students loved it!
