BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Midway through the MLS season, here's an update on former Indiana men's soccer standouts playing professionally.

MLS

Eric Alexander – Houston Dynamo
- Traded to the Dynamo from the Montreal Impact on July 23, 2016.
- Started all 13 games in which he appeared for Montreal before getting traded, tallying one assist.
- A 2013 Supporters Shield winner with the New York Red Bulls, Eric Alexander appeared in 80 consecutive regular-season games from October 27, 2012 to June 13, 2015.
- Also played for Red Bulls, Dallas and the Portland Timbers in MLS and his experience adds up to over 150 MLS regular season appearances and 500 minutes of postseason action.

Kevin Alston – Orlando City
- Joined Orlando in the offseason prior to the 2016 season after playing six seasons with the New England Revolution.
- Signed a Generation Adidas contract with Revolution and was selected in the first round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft.
- Appeared in 148 games for New England, registering one goal and seven assists – ranking in the team's career top 10 in appearances (10th) and minutes played (ninth).
- Started the 2010 MLS All-Star Game against English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United and was voted the Revs' 2010 Best Defender.

Will Bruin – Houston Dynamo
- Played six seasons with the Houston Dynamo after signing a Generation Adidas contract with the team in 2010.
- In 2016, Bruin has appeared in 19 matches, earning 16 starts while scoring four goals.
- Named to MLS Team of the Week on March 21 after netting a pair of goals.
- Appeared in 166 games for the Dynamo, earning 150 starts while scoring 50 goals.
- Set the franchise record with 16 goals in all competitions in 2012 (12 in regular season; four in playoffs).
- His four playoff goals was also a franchise mark.
- Tied MLS record for most goals in a season by a second-year professional with 12 in 2012.

Patrick Doody – Chicago Fire
- Signed a Homegrown contract with the Chicago Fire in 2014.
- Playing for St. Louis FC on loan in 2015, started 18 of 21 matches, leading the team with four assists.
- For the Fire, he appeared in seven games, earning six starts in 2015, making his MLS debut against Seattle on July 11.

Ned Grabavoy – Portland Timbers
- Signed with the Timbers in the offseason prior to the 2016 season.
- Appeared in 14 matches this season, earning four starts for the Timbers.
- Played in the MLS for 14 seasons with stops with the Los Angeles Galaxy, the Columbus Crew, the San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake, New York City FC and the Timbers.
- Totaled 17 career goals and 31 assists in 293 career matches with 224 starts.
- Signed a Project-40 contract with MLS, and was subsequently selected 14th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Femi Hollinger-Janzen – New England Revolution
- Appeared in 14 matches for the Revolution, earning one start.
- Scored two goals and an assist on the season.
- Named Revolution Man of the Month for May.
- One of only two 2016 SuperDraft selections from the third round or later to see game action through the month of April this season.

Drew Moor – Toronto FC
- Having an outstanding season for Toronto FC in 2016, starting all 19 matches at center back.
- One of the front runners for MLS Defender of the Year, Moor has been named to the MLS Team of the Week four times this year.
- Also scored a pair of goals on the season.
- In his 13th season in the MLS after being drafted by FC Dallas, sixth overall in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. Has played for FC Dallas, the Colorado Rapids and Toronto FC.
- Made 128 combined appearances (league and playoffs) for FC Dallas before being traded to Colorado in 2009.

Lee Nguyen – New England Revolution
- Playing his fifth season for the New England Revolution after signing a multi-year deal with the MLS in 2011.
- Started all 21 matches he's appeared in for the Revolution this season, totaling five goals and seven assists.
- Named to MLS Team of the Week on May 30 for his goal and assist against Seattle.
- In 148 career matches with the Revolution, Nguyen has scored 39 goals to go with 31 assists.

Jacob Peterson – Sporting Kansas City
- Appeared in 13 matches this season for Sporting Kansas City, earning 10 starts.
- Totaled three goals and an assist on the year.
- 12-year veteran of the MLS, Peterson has appeared in 238 career matches with 139 starts, scoring 19 goals to go with 17 assists.
- Selected by the Colorado Rapids in the second round of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft.
- Following stints with Toronto FC and the San Jose Earthquakes, Peterson was signed by Sporting Kansas City in January 2012.

Tommy Thompson – San Jose Earthquakes
- Appeared in 10 matches this season for the Earthquakes, earning four starts.
- Played in the 2016 Chipotle Homegrown Game, which features the best Homegrown Players throughout the MLS.
- Signed as San Jose's first Homegrown Player on Jan. 22, 2014.

Eric Zavaleta – Toronto FC
- Started all seven matches he's appeared in this season for Toronto FC.
- Toronto FC acquired Zavaleta from Seattle Sounders in exchange for a second round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
- Drafted 10th overall by Seattle in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft.
- Spent the 2014 season on loan at Chivas USA from Seattle Sounders FC; where he made 17 appearances and started in 15 matches for Chivas.
- In two seasons between Seattle and Chivas, Zavaleta has made a combined 22 appearances.


USL

Mike Ambersley – St. Louis FC
- Appeared in 18 matches this season, totaling a goal and three assists.
- Scored the game-winning goal against Sacramento Republic FC on April 23.
- Tallied a pair of assists in a 5-2 victory at Tulsa Roughnecks FC on May 21.
- 12-year professional who was drafted in the fourth round of the MLS SuperDraft in 2006 by FC Dallas.

Jacob Bushue – St. Louis FC
- Appeared in 18 matches this season for St. Louis FC.
- Signed with St. Louis FC on Jan. 15, 2015.
- Scored his first professional goal in a match on Sept. 12, 2015 against the Charlotte Independence, earning a spot on the USL Team of the Week for his performance.

Tommy Meyer – Swoope Park Rangers
- Appeared in 16 matches this season, notching an assist at Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.
- Selected by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft.
- Played three seasons for the Galaxy, winning the MLS Cup in 2012 and 2014.


NASL

Rich Balchan – Ottawa Fury
- Has made three starts for the Fury this season.
- Drafted in the first round in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew.
- Played 19 matches with the Crew from 2011-12 before signing with Real Salt Lake.

Dylan Mares – Indy Eleven
- Appeared in 14 matches this season, earning 12 starts, totaling a goal and an assist.
- Played three seasons for the Indy Eleven, recording 40 starts in 59 career matches.
- Posted six goals and eight assists for the Eleven in three years.

Brad Ring – Indy Eleven
- Started 11 of the 12 matches he's appeared in the season for the Eleven.
- Played three season for the Eleven, scoring two goals.
- Earned 37 careers starts in 45 matches for the Eleven.
- Drafted in the second round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes.
- Played in 37 career matches for the San Jose from 2010-13. Also played for the Portland Timbers for one year.
