This may be the stat that best summarizes how frustrating it is to be an IU football fan.

From 2007-2016, IU has a 31-71 record. That's good for a .304 winning percentage, tying us with Iowa State for 111th out of 128 FBS teams. (For what it's worth, Purdue is just a notch above us at 110th with 32-71/.311. There are only three power 5 schools with worse winning percentages in that time period - Colorado, Washington State, and Kansas.)

Of those 71 losses, IU held a lead at some point in the game in 42 of the games. That's the highest count in FBS, Iowa State, UNLV, and New Mexico State are next closest with 40 comeback losses.

So roughly 60% of the time that IU has played and lost in recent years, at some point in the game we as fans probably held some hope of winning only to have those hopes dashed. No other fan base has had Lucy pull the football away so many times.

Yep...

Stats for all teams at http://www.bcftoys.com/comebacks. It also counts the number of times teams won when never trailing, total comeback wins, total comeback wins after trailing 10+ points, and total comeback wins after trailing 17+ points. On the flip side, it also tallies total times lost when never leading, total comeback losses, total comeback losses after leading by 10 or more points, and total comeback losses after leading by 17 or more points.
