Hoosier Hysterics Podcast

One of my daughters wanted a pet chinchilla so okay got her a chinchilla. After our new pet was settled in I found out that a chinchilla poops an average of forty times per day. They are like the champion poopers of the animal kingdom. Live and learn. CMW is like the chinchilla of the coaching community.
lol, thx for the laugh

He talked about Thad Matta too. Calbert a little…
I would love to hear fife & matta's version of things

Call me out of the loop, but I had never listened to the Hoosier Hysterics Podcast before today. However some of the people on X that I follow discussed it and I gave it a listen. It was a pretty damning account of the Woodson era and anyone that loves IU should be a bit sick over the entire process from his hire, to the way he treats the people around him. Just seems completely unacceptable and the podcast seemed to come to the conclusion that the only way Dolson gets to actually do his job, is if public outcry gets loud enough.
Hoosier Hysterics are bitter over the way Woodson broke off their access to the program. I wouldn't pay much attention to them from an objective view. They are likely just trying to be relevant again. I didn't like them before the split and I wouldn't give them any attention.

Attention whores? How much do you think they make from all these clicks? It's a free podcast with a few sponsors. They are passionate fans, just like you. Or are you a UCONN fan, I can't tell.

I haven't been a fan of everything that HH has done in the past, but I also have no reason to believe they'd slander innocent people (besides Woody) just to get some more attention.

And if you actually listened to the podcast, they are very clear with their motives. And I don't blame them, Woody has been a trainwreck since he set foot back on campus 4 years ago. He had his shot, but he is not a good coach and the team's performance in The Bahamas suggests that this year's team won't be any better.

On his most recent radio show he said "A lot of these guys are new, they've played in various places, and everything we're doing is a little bit different than where they played before. So we've just got to continue to build and get guys comfortable in what we're doing."

Do you think he is aware that Louisville turned over their ENTIRE roster in addition to their head coach? Based on the stories I've heard, he probably isn't.
You nailed it my friend

If they were giving honest behind the scenes information of the clusterf*k created, they both probably deserved to be removed from access to the program, while also telling the truth about what’s going on. It’s not mutually exclusive. They weren’t removed because they LIED, they were removed for giving intimate details that were concerning. That’s not me being a rube and believing fake info. They could have kept it to themselves. but it seems they thought it was so egregious that they had to talk about it. It just so happens they have a podcast with an audience.

If they were making it all up, then they should never be trusted.

I don’t mean to pick a fight with you here, so this isnt directed at you. But i find that to be very hard to believe. Just because Brian Evans says so, doesn’t mean it is correct. Also, I have no doubt that Quinn is advising Woody on the side. He may have Woody’s ear, and may even not be listening to Dolson in certain basketball matters. I don’t believe for second that AD Dolson doesn’t have the final say in this. Which is why i’m not buying everything Brian Evans is saying.
Dolson said it! And Woodson said he doesn’t report to Dolson..

I’ve seen rumors that someone very recently let go is talking. The assistants have had to keep Woody in check often and then take the blame when things, like recruiting for example, go south.

You don’t believe that Dolson wanted him fired last year and didn’t have the backing to do so? I thought that was pretty common knowledge here. That Quinn and some backers, and now we know one was Steve Ferguson, gave them tons of money to buy a team he wanted.. I think Dolson has a lot more credibility now . As for reporting to him, that seems something pretty silly for Brian to lie about. What would be the point?

With regards to common knowledge, especially on this message board, I don’t believe much of anything as fact. Lots of silly conjecture. Who knows what Dolson wanted to do.
Also, I’ve heard plenty from Brian Evans over the years. Brilliant player, but otherwise does not seem to me like the sharpest knife in the drawer. Quite the opposite actually, and I take his his counsel, takes and opinions lightly.

They were critical of the play on the court and Woody got pissed. It wasn't until after their banishment that they pulled back the curtain.

As far as airing dirty laundry and whether that's right or wrong. they were insiders who got shunned, once their access was cut off, avid listeners wanted to know why. Eric told his side of the story, I didn't like to hear it, but if it's true, I'm glad he shared it because it confirms a lot of the rumors that have been circulating for years.

I just saw that Rabjohns posted a link to the Hysterics, so he must be persona non gratis now too.

They are whistle blowers. They care about IU and supposedly have "inside info". If what they are saying is true, then they should be hailed as heroes, don't you think? Maybe they have some bitterness about the way they were cutoff, but Brian Evans backed them up on every claim they made.

While at IU this weekend for the Bucket game, I tailgated with many friends whose kids currently attend IU. The stories that they told about current players did not make me feel good about the program.

What are the stories about the players that do not make you feel good?

Listening to Jim Coyle and asking myself once again how a school with the media strength that IU boasts can’t have a high quality voice for fan sites/radio. It’s just amazing to me.

Jim's YT channel might be bearable if he would stop inflecting his voice. Good lord man, stop it. Talk like a normal person. Not everyone has a smooth radio voice, so please stop making it worse by using your exaggerated inflections when speaking.

It's hard to have the dumbest take on the internet in a single day, but congrats. You've done it.
Well aren’t you just precious! Would you call his insights high quality? I like Jim. I’ve met him and find him to be a very nice guy. I just find his continual lack of understanding nuance to be unbearable. I’ve had countless others say as much to me, so clearly my take isn’t that stand out.

What does Indiana University have to do with that? Like we're graduating students to fill jobs for IU radio and podcasts and message boards?

Agreed, good guy, loves IU and gets good guests, but not a great interviewer or host. Personally I think he's got a bad case of ADHD, but if he'd just slow down, relax a little and have more prepared and memorized questions, I think he could improve his delivery and appeal a ton. And I still appreciate the content and interviews he posts.

No, and frankly that presumption was an awfully big leap from my post. However, given the fact that we have a school steeped in journalistic tradition, it is not a stretch to think that there would be a site or show utilizing someone with a high-quality background to discuss our team. Was that simple enough for you?

I agree on the quality of guy and guests, and would never question his love for IU. I just constantly find his line of questioning for the guests to be lacking and have not once listened to his show and felt better informed due to his part. I am on the road in KY all the time and while I loath the content, Matt Jones and KSR are light years ahead of what we have from a quality standpoint.

Not a big leap at all, just either poorly written or poorly interpreted or both.

"Media strength that IU boasts" I interpret as a school with a strong media program.

And keep in mind, the school of journalism was around for decades...the media school is still in its developing stages, comparatively. And if you haven't listened to Galen Clavio on CrimsonCast, then you're missing someone who has a great radio voice and a strong IU sports pedigree.

Galen is a great speaker, doesn't know shit about sports.

On a per game basis the $400,000 is about $13,000 per game and 7 games played so $91,000 thus far. He has played a total of 5 minutes so about $18,000 per minute played. Damn good work if you can get it.

Damn, if true I’m applying now. I doubt I could get out on the court. But at a bargain price of 100k. I can cheer like hell on the pine.

Thanks for the suggestion on CrimsonCast. That is a new one by me and I will surely be giving it a listen.

My point wasn’t that the schools should be funneling into fan sites, but rather that one would think someone would have run with a high quality fansite/radio with the breadth of media talent out of the school. We have one of the most unyieldingly loyal fanbases in the world, so a quality product will get viewers/listeners.

No. He has zero say when it comes to Woodson. Brian Evans said point blank that Dolson told him that Woodson doesn't report to him. He reports directly to Quinn Buckner. Woodson doesn't talk to or check in with Dolson. Period.
He has the authority to do so yes. Will he? No. At least not without support from Whitten, some BOT members, and a few of the big donors.

Scott is a nice guy. But he’s a yes man and that’s precisely why he was hired. He is to the IU athletic department what Biden has been to the Presidency. A puppet.

No. Scott moved on Allen and led the Cig hire. That resulted in IU making the CFB playoff and being in the best shape it has ever been to be decent to good in the only sport that really matters. This could transform athetlic dept revenues and therefore IU sports overall. He has achieved a lot more than a "yes man" or "puppet."

Look at what he is dealing with on the basketball side: The Chairman of the Board is Woody's best pal and pushed very hard for Woody to be hired. Key donors also love Woody. Like it or not, Scott has to navigate an extremely difficult political environment on the bball side. Hopefully he is allowed to lead the bball program and make personnel decisions, like an AD should. We'll see.

I'm glad we have Scott around. If it's not him, we're restarting with someone who is likely far worse and probably an actual "yes man."

Dolson was only 1 year in when they fired Miller and conducted the next search. As I understood it, he was all in on Stevens and when it didn't work out, he got squeezed out of the decision a little bit. I'm sure he still had final say, but because the Stevens hire didn't work out, he likely panicked a little.
