I’ve heard from several ND fans today that Mike Hart is going there. I haven’t done any research. Has anyone else heard this and is it a done deal?

As of 7:44 PM , nothing on the ND board about Coach Hart. If needed, turn up the salary wick.

There is definitely talk about it. Heard they may have missed on their 1st two choices and Hart is their third. Hopefully not.

I really like Hart, seems to recruit well and he’s got some name brand from UM & NFL. But with a new OC and him seeming to want to be on a fast track, I could see how ND could be tempting.

That said, sometime the grass isn’t greener and I think he’d have more say and support (and good behavior/treatment) with Allen than the not so beloved coach of ND.

My 2c, hope he stays!

I think with the stable of RB's at his disposal in Bloomington that he could benefit greatly by hanging around for another year or two. Those big jobs/salaries will most certainly come calling.

How many jobs are bigger than ND? Arguably 5 and I doubt he’d be welcomed by one of those fan base. He was just passed over for the OC gig. Not saying that he’s was ready or won’t get the chance again. I think he’s got a real connection with Stevie Scott, maybe I’m looking at this through the wrong perspective but I don’t see him leaving him now. If it was Michigan it might be different, until then I’m betting he stays.

I wouldn't blame Hart for moving up, but unless it's clear the guy's a genius, you don't hire a 32-year old who's only ever been a quality control assistant or running backs coach to run the entire offense and call plays. It's going to be difficult for Tom Allen to be here for more than a few more years if his offensive coordinator hire is a failure.

If Allen was an offensive coach first he might be able to take a chance with a younger guy like Hart.

Hart's best chance if he wants to be an OC or head coach down the line is probably to move up and get in the NFL. Typically the route in college is former QB--> QBs coach --> offensive coordinator.

Another idea/take: tAllen tells Hart, Coach DeBoer is going to be mentoring you to be an OC along the way, here or somewhere else. Allen seems to like him and would likely want to help him develop (and stay at IU!)

would hate to see it happen, but if it does I wonder if Coach DeBoer and/or Coach Allen ever crossed paths with this guy https://broncosports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=425&path=football

they coached at some of the same schools, although at slightly different times, FWIW

He looks like a good one!

There is also this Fresno State fellow:
https://gobulldogs.com/coaches.aspx?rc=863&path=football

I'd love for TA to find a way for this guy to end up on the Offensive staff too:
https://gobulldogs.com/coaches.aspx?rc=867&path=football

He (Grubb) has been with Deboer for awhile (this was previously mentioned [by you(?)]...

Maybe he (Grubb) could be shoehorned in as a Tackles & Tight Ends Coach (keeping Hiller at Centers & Guards [Mallory had a setup like this at the beginning]...

think Tedford's already lost at least 2 coaches--not sure how many more he thinks he can afford to have leave

interesting to me that Marks (Boise RB coach) has spent time at both Arkansas State and Univ. of Sioux Falls. Not sure how many "degrees of separation" that involves with Allen and DeBoer, but still found it interesting...

-(This is intended as light humor)-:)

He (Tedford) could always hire Canada as his new OC, then Canada would bring his own entire staff with him (thus freeing the two guys above)..... :);)

C'mon Matt..., take one for the team and sign on with Fresno!!! ;):D

I do hope Canada can catch on somewhere....up in the League, if possible

If Hart "does" take the Notre Dame job then the group below is what I'd hope our Coaching Staff would end up looking like for the next couple of (preferably 25) years:

Tom Allen:
*****Head Coach*****

Grant Heard:

*The Analyst position (Nick Sheridan) does not count towards the 10 Assistant Coaches hard limit...*

---Or....., you could just keep the above but move Nick Sheridan to Running Backs Coach..., and leave Jamie Christian out at Fresno...(while still bringing Grubb here)...---

I like it for the most part except lumping TEs and Tackles together. With Deboer throwing to TEs so much, I'd like them with Heard learning to be receivers.

Sheridan is to good to be demoted. He has brought in two 4 star QB's!

Worked well for Bill Mallory.

The TE's are always going to go through "hands" and scheme drills with the WR's at some point during practice..., that's a non-issue...

You only get 10 "on field" Assistant Coaches.

The new OC was also the QB's coach at his last stop (doubt he'll give that up) so..., Sheridan either moves to TE's, RB's, or an " Offensive Analyst" role or simply moves on. He's the odd man out... (in the scenario I outlined above)...

Wouldn't surprise me however if he (Sheridan) wasn't just moved to RB's (and the Fresno RB/ST guy -Christian- stays in Fresno)...
