Turns out the GOP was correct - Twitter did succumb to pressure to censor tweets. Unfortunately for them, it was at the behest of Trump, who was really bothered by John Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen.

Oh Danc and his buddy Cray won’t like this!

This has such a limited audience. I imagine it's on Fox, Newsmax and OAN, and at one point the power went out which drug things into the afternoon. It's definitely MAGA world on display- Gym Jordan, MTG, Andy Biggs (WTH is Louis Gohmert), and this oversight Committee is one of the concessions McCarthy had to make as part of his deal with the Devils. I'm sure he already regrets it, and I imagine the coming days are only going to lead to even more regret...

All it's going to do is help Dems, esp when Comer has already said he isn't interested in investigating "abuses" under Trump. Of course I still haven't figured out how Trump's FBI and DOJ (the Govt) getting involved with Twitter is supposed to lead to (private citizen) Joe Biden. I'm honestly a little perplexed at how determined the MAGA types are to push their grievance politics which really don't do anything but isolate their base and alienate Independents. They really are gluttons for punishment, electorally speaking...

So do you agree that the government shouldn't be pressuring social media sites to censor speech?
Hopefully this mess will produce a case where SCOTUS can flesh out exactly what sort of comraderie transforms a private business into a state actor. That would be of value.

I don’t see “sucking up to the DOJ/FBI“ as being enough, yet, but some DOJ/FBI heads should still roll.

Was the tweet actually deleted? Your clip doesn't indicate it was.

So did the Young Turks or MSNBC give you your talking points?

You guys would be screaming to the high heavens if the shoe was on the other foot.

Actually..., OANN and Newsmax have been pulled from the ATT feed (can you say Corporate Censorship), Fox would be gone too if the left actually thought they could get away with it (and they're working on it)...

Boeing (McDonnell Douglas) and all the other weapons/military supply manufacturers might want a word.

I think we need nuance. This tweet fell under twitter's policy on abusive/insulting behavior. I don't know why the White House shouldn't be allowed to avail themselves of the same rights I have. Imagine if government officials couldn't report threats because that's government interference of freedom of speech.

So yes, I totally agree that if someone suggests the government is wrong for an action, the government has zero right to interfere in any way (though they reserve a right to respond). But when it comes to abuse, the government shouldn't be held to a different standard than anyone else.

You understand that those two channels got pulled because their numbers are horrendous, right? No one watches that crap. They negotiate with the networks and the channels overvalued their worth. FOX will never go anywhere because people watch it.

Hahaha the white house requested the tweet be removed??? and it was just a mean tweet?

WTF does that have to do with Hunter and Joe Biden colluding with Ukraine and China while the FBI in collusion with the DOJ, DHS and DNI payed twitter 3 million dollars to hide that information that was the TRUTH??? All this while an election was going on??????

Thats ALL YOU GOT??? You cannot be serious. Everything that we told you was happening HAPPENED while you all called us tin hat liars. Who's lying NOW???? These people should be in jail. This is corruption at the highest levels.

for Newsmax, AT&T says it was a fees dispute, and if so, likely Newsmax was the one who pulled it.

AT&T replaced it with another just as far right network wth Bill O'Reilly and the lot.

that said, the US idiocracy are totally missing the big picture here.

AT&T, Comcast, You Tube, Hulu, Dish Net, etc, shouldn't be deciding what networks you do and don't get, or forcing you to buy networks you do not wish to pay for.

unlike when cable began, and for the first 40 plus yrs of the industry, the tech is now such that the providers are able to give you any channel you want, and hold back any channel you don't, at virtually zero added expense to the provider, and CSRs can make changes at the touch of their keyboard from anywhere on the globe.

the current monopolistic "bundle" business plan is absolutely illegal as hell, but not enforced, because Comcast and AT&T and the network owners pay the legislatures and regulators not to enforce it, on top of the fact that Fox, AT&T, and Comcast, are the PR/media arms of the RNC and DNC.

you are being stolen from every month by the providers and the networks, courtesy of the govt that's supposed to be representing you, not multinational corps.

and not out and out stealing nickles and dimes, but for many, $50 plus bucks a month and more.

What?

So you're saying the witness (John Turley) lied during the hearing on the video.

Edit: Your story is also from January 18th. Turley gave testimony yesterday.
I’ll jump in. Johnathan Turley is a law school professor. He didn’t work for Twitter or the FBI, so he’s not a witness to anything regarding what actually happened between Twitter and the FBI. He knew nothing to lie about.

I really wish people on my side of the aisle were much more logical and a lot less . . . well, whatever it is you think you were doing in that post. Also learn to differentiate between facts and opinions.

I'm not sure Turley lied, he just gave his opinion which I guess has value to him and the folks at Fox who keep booking him for his "expertise". Goldman made him look pretty foolish when Turley (doing his best George Santos) claimed he had experience in Govt. First he said he was a "page" at some time, and then he actually tried to claim that his experience as an outside consultant for the House GOP during Impeachment qualified as "Govt experience"...

Under that reasoning, Tom Hagen qualified as a member of the Mafia, although I will admit the linkage of the Corleone family and the Trump cult is not without merit...

But I like Republican Tim Miller's analysis of the proceedings as the MAGA world's "little Festivus"...

Then why was he questioned. He said he had access to the twitter file dump. Why question him?

The FBI pays a private company millions for information on private citizens and you don't see anything wrong with it?

You don't think the company knows what the FBI wants them to do when they're crawling up their ass every week?

Of course the FBI isn't going to admit to trying to censor everyone. They're clever in how they couch their approach, as we saw with Comey and Flynn.

Turley has access to the twitter file dump and testified under oath.

Aloha has neither.

Draw your own conclusions.

Sorry dude, but you're the epitome of a "tin hat wearing" conspiracy theorist. I'm not going to call you a "liar" because I'm pretty convinced you believe what you post. So maybe I'd say you're deranged, but you definitely don't seem to be lying about what you believe. Which may be even more sad...

"WTF does that have to do with Hunter and Joe Biden colluding with Ukraine and China while the FBI in collusion with the DOJ, DHS and DNI payed twitter 3 million dollars to hide that information that was the TRUTH??? All this while an election was going on?????"

You seem to have a huge misrepresentation of Twitter's importance, if you think Twitter not allowing Dick pics of Hunter somehow hid valuable info from the public at large. First off the people who care about this issue all watch right wing media sources already, so they already knew everything that was public about the story. They also knew it in Nov 2022, which is why we all witnessed a huge Red wave...

But secondly I have a twitter account (which I rarely post or read) which makes me a minority among Americans, and even I don't rely on twitter for anything resembling news information. I'll read a news story that describes twitter's reactions to a news event and as a result I might go to Twitter to see if there are any comments I can post here. I like the fact that when you post a twitter link it can be read even by someone who is normally too lazy to click a link...

But rely on twitter, or for that matter TYT, Pakman, Tucker, Hannity or any other commentary show for actual news? None of those people break news, they just comment on stories that they discover elsewhere and bring to their specific audience, usually a day or two later.

Was the NY post censored when they ran the story? The only "censoring" they experienced was their own employees being uncomfortable with the story for the same reason that made Twitter nervous- it looked suspiciously like Russian disinformation.

Your problem is you are motivated by issues that a majority of people care very little about, which is why your outrage over this issue will go nowhere beyond your own echo chamber. Not saying that's the case on this board- you have plenty of allies here.

He was the witness for the fighting Gym Jordans. He made claims, presented no evidence and made himself a laughing stock. They also had a former FBI agent who retired in 1999 (pre-911) bemoaning the fact that the FBI came to focus on domestic terrorism.

People who are impressed with the likes of Jordan, Boebert, Biggs etc... ate it up. Everyone else... not so much...

Coming from you I feel much better that I'm correct here and you're a f*ckin blowhard as usual. You've been wrong about everything you post except the polls Bailey posted. Other than that you're nothing but a cnn talking mouthpiece which equals a worthless POS.

Aloha has the same "access" Turley has, he can read it on Twitter. Turley himself admitted (see Baller's video) that the only "insight" he had was as someone with a Twitter account who could read the files...

You guys are embarrassing yourselves if you want to continue to point towards Turley as providing anything but comedy. Wasserman Schultz and Goldman utterly humiliated him...

And Raskin blows open the whole Jordan definition of "weaponization" which apparently the GOP members of this Committee slept thru during the entire Trump Admin...

I don't get it: he's a law prof and they asked him to opine about legal issues and she's complaining he didn't work for Twitter? So what?

How is he a expert on the Twitter files when he's got the same info as everyone else? He had no knowledge of inner workings other than what was posted online.

He tried to say that his opinion wasn't a opinion at first. There was a reason for that, IMO.

Just watch... When the MAGAs get around to having hearings on "Covid", they will call "med student" Kevin Bass as an "expert witness"...

I don't know. I have no dog in this fight. I'm just going based off the clip someone posted. I didn't see his original testimony. Did they ask him about matters outside the Twitter file dump?

Congress calls law profs and lawyers all the time to testify about stuff. When they do, they give their legal opinions. They have no special knowledge of the facts, but to call their opinion on the application of the law to those facts as no better than any other Twitter user is just wrong.
