GOP 2024

Maybe he is just following Trump's lead and giving adversaries cute little nicknames ;)

Anyone who ships immigrants as a political stunt doesn't deserve respect anyway.

If you think respect is something every elder should get automatically, then how would you classify you and your fellow conservatives treatment of biden? respectful or disrespectful?
Being respectful isn't hard. I do it almost all the time. When I'm not respectful it's nearly always in response to someone that is disrespectful.

I don't expect certain WC posters on both sides of the aisle to ever be respectful. Unfortunately, you're on the list for the left side.

Don’t be naive. Everyone will be knocking on Donald’s door ready to fill the second seat. Well maybe not Liz, but few would pass.
Anyone with ambition to become President should pass on being the loser's running mate, but the first priority is to ensure there is no Trump nomination.

I wonder: to win the GOP primary, can Desantis try the route Biden did: bank towards the middle and make the whole election about Trump can't beat Biden, and Biden is a danger we just can't allow to be in office, so vote for me? Or does he have to out-Trump Trump on policy and nationalist/populist rhetoric?

I think the former is the better political strategy to set up a general-election win.
The razor thin margins in some of these states make me believe DeSantis needs 99% of the Trump voters. But we also know some of those voters voted Obama in 2008/12. So they are fickle.

Although, as a more traditional Republican, he'd get all the Rangers, Alohas, McM's, etc back in the fold. So maybe he could overcome losing some MAGAs.

There is no GOP. All the King’s horses and all the King’s men ain’t putting that thing together again. It’s between 3 and 17 ineffective social clubs who dislike communism and socialism and the differently-sexualized (and now each other) for different reasons.

Goldwater was right - Reagan was wrong - you can’t let the religious steer the party. Abortion is a religious issue. It belongs in the church house not the state house. (Jesus didn’t try and change laws - he changed hearts and minds.) Politicalizing the abortion issue to get the religious vote was a short term victory and now risks civil war. 40 years. How interesting. What a mysterious way.

The strong-defense-pro-business-with-a-wide-safety-net idea was buried at an unknown location and won’t be seen again in our lifetimes. Probably in the same place as the “live and let live” idea.

Meanwhile, the Commies and Socialists not-so-quietly took the schools and universities and mainstream media, and have now started chipping away at the courts. The loss of the US Senate to them was the final straw. It’s over. When they turn on their own citizenry and toss the writers and poets and musicians and protesters in the gulag, it will be too late for them to think.

The Toxicity of Trump will be in future history books in other future countries who write about the former United States as the main factor in its un-uniting. But it really started when the GOP decided to mix state and religion over abortion, to the detriment of the Kingdom of God.

He tried to have his last one killed, but yeah, sure.
Sadly I don't think that will matter to quite a few. Anyone that turns on Trump is a RINO anyway.

Trump will just make sure he gets someone this time that will do whatever he says.

People are sick and tired of the Trump chaos and insanity. That was evident in last week's election results in swing states. Independents and moderate Republicans said "fvck this" and voted for Dems over the Trump-backed election denier loonies.

He's running for president again, and announced it so early, because he believes: 1) his candidacy will somehow forestall indictment (it won't) and/and; 2) he'll be able to play the martyr and argue that the inevitable Georgia and federal indictments are political witch hunts. Some people will continue to buy into his bullshit, but most won't. DeSantis will wipe the floor with him.

At about 4 seconds left, you can see a guy do a cut motion and point to the doors.

That’s not much for Trump. He must be slowing down in his advancing years.

What is left unsaid is that Democrats and Trump both know that the backlash from Trump getting indicted in a BS political witch-hunt will help Trump in a GOP primary. They are both counting on this because both want Trump to be the GOP presidential nominee in 2024.

If DeSantis backs down from this fight, I will lose a lot of respect for him. Despite some of the really loony leftist trying paint him as a more calculated, power hungry and insidious Trump, I think the vast majority realize he represents a significant return to normalcy.

By and large DeSantis is combative over policy, Trump is combative over perceived slights and ego.
We'll see how it plays out, and whether Dems/Independents will buy DeSantis as a "return to normalcy". He appeared on stage with crackpots like Mastriano, Lake, Finchem and said some extremely wacky psycho religious nonsense in the process. And those states in particular didn't just reject MAGA loons in headline races, but they both also elected Dem Legislatures for the first time in decades in PA and maybe ever in AZ...

They want him to boost Herschel in GA, so that would make 3 different battleground states where he basically embraced crazy. How does he navigate the battleground battlefield with the tactical errors he's already made?

I can't wait for the Trump persona once he's losing. He's gonna destroy a lot of other people's reputations along with whatever's left of his own.

You've heard of a "convention floor fight" haven't you?

Yeah I don’t expect him to win over people like you, you’re the “really loony leftist” I was referencing in the OP. Obviously. You’re a very unique individual.

The rest of your post is guilt by association nonsense.

Will the Republicans be smart enough to only run one candidate against Trump. Trump only wins if multiple challengers run against him.

I am not holding my breath.

Mike Pence, in his book interviews is channeling his inner W. If you get a chance to hear him, God forbid, notice the similarities in his speaking style with that of Bush. It’s in the pauses, I think.

What he lacks is W’s humor and the twinkling his eye.

First, he tried to sound/body language of Reagan and now W?

Who next? Go full circle and sound like Trump by 2030?

Trump’s tax returns are totally inconsequential to the general public. If there’s a problem the IRS and all the prosecutors who hate him will get him.
No, they aren't. The whole point of releasing tax returns is to let the public see whether or not there are any potential conflicts of interest they should have in mind while electing their leaders.

You know this, and the fact that you've posted about Hunter and "the Big Guy" more than just about anyone here proves that you know this, and for you to pretend they don't matter is just dishonest.

Second time today beer went through my nose reading a post.

You've been drinking for nine hours?
Do you and Mark spend all day tracking me around? It is flattering in a way . First it was a joke, so I know that passes you by and even had I had one earlier with a late lunch and had one later WTF business of yours is that anyway?
