Did their IFF go haywire?!?

I read a few different pieces on this. Other sources have said that the plane had just launched from the carrier.

Amazed no one was seriously hurt or killed.
 

Sounds like a Growler Electronic Warfare version (since it was crewed)... That's a major loss... Those things are expensive too... 125 mil

DOD reorganization can't come soon enough if this was human error...
It’s definitely a screw up, but isn’t one that is going to be fixed by anything Trump will do. It’ll be studied and addressed by the Navy as have all the mishaps that have happened in the past. I’m sure the CO and Tactical Action Officer in the cruiser are already removed from the ship for this and possibly others.

This may have some linkage to what went wrong and if Trump puts some of the people out of business who clearly aren't demanding a high degree of accountability then hopefully he'll have a great affect on resolving these types of issues before they reach Combat...

Can’t read all that because of the paywall, but one of those four ships was my last ship.
