Coverdale sums it up best, "I tell everybody the thing about Dane, he was an asshole, but he was our asshole."
Why are you still posting about posting about Dane? Why are you still posting about Dane?
Why are you still posting about Dane? He is not affiliated with Indiana Basketball.
There’s plenty of things to post about the future of IU basketball, like players in the portal. There’s nothing to be accomplished talking about Dane Fife. It’s over. Why are you still posting about posting about Dane?
Ans. - For the same reason I'm posting about a poster still posting why someone else is still posting about Dane. It's insane!
Have a good day. It can only get better from here, but whether better is good enough remains to be seen. You've got until sundown without a flashlight.
Don’t you attack me.Likely for the same reason people posted about Lewis, Memphis, ISHAA, and Purdue losing (none that are affiliated with Indiana Basketball): some people might be interested. If you are not, don't click the thread. Pretty simple. But you were interested enough to click, read, and even reply. Odd.
Lucy, its far from over. There’s plenty of things to post about the future of IU basketball, like players in the portal. There’s nothing to be accomplished talking about Dane Fife. It’s over.
Of course he is and will always be...Why are you still posting about Dane? He is not affiliated with Indiana Basketball.
So you're saying he's no longer part of the IU family? As one who made so many IU fans excited when he left MSU for IU because he represented a smooth segue into Woodson's position, maybe now he'll coach someplace else, like MSU, and continue to beat our belt-welted asses, as they usually do. Family is forever! There’s plenty of things to post about the future of IU basketball, like players in the portal. There’s nothing to be accomplished talking about Dane Fife. It’s over.
He’s part of the IU basketball family but not part of the IU Coaching family! Now listen for it 🦻( He got fired)So you're saying he's no longer part of the IU family? You got me on that one.So, with your idiot logic, Bob Knight isn't part of the IU Coaching family?

Dane was our Brian Cardinal/Jess Settles. Everyone but IU fans f*****g hated him.Coverdale sums it up best, "I tell everybody the thing about Dane, he was an asshole, but he was our asshole."
Dane was an awful shooter until his senior year. Davis said something about him seeing a counselor/psychiatrist prior to his senior year to help with game anxiety. Davis said Dane could shoot lights out in practice but couldn’t hit anything in a game. After counseling, Dane shot lights out in games. Dane, Hornsby and Coverdale were the best three guard combo threat from 3 IU has ever had. Having Jeffries down low didn’t hurt. JJ is probably one of the best two or three passing big men IU has ever had. He could pass out of double team to any of those three shooters. Go back and watch the Illinois game from Dane’s senior year or the Kent State game from that year’s tournament.I saw a comment the other day about Fife being a terrible shooter. I'd like to think that people on this board have better memories than Twitter folk, but just in case here's what's interesting about Fife's career arc as a shooter.
In Fife's first three seasons he was 33 of 121 for 27.3%. As a senior though, Dane hit 66 of 140 for 47.1%.
Dane is one of only 12 IU players who've ever hit at least 65 3's in a season, of those only Alford, Hulls and Strickland had a better 3pt% than Danes 47.1 his senior season. I was a bit surprised about Marshall to be honest.
The other thing that surprised me was Pat Graham not being one of the 4.I saw a comment the other day about Fife being a terrible shooter. Better tell fatjohns that. He seems content smearing fife.So you're saying he's no longer part of the IU family? Funny you mention those games. I only went to three games that season, the Illinois game and the two Rupp games. I went to many more games in other seasons, but for pure fun those three in 2002 might've been my best attendance season ever... quality over quantityDane was an awful shooter until his senior year. BINGO! Never difficult for 01 to trap himself. Funny as hell. So, with your idiot logic, Bob Knight isn't part of the IU Coaching family?
I'd be willing to bet at least half of what he's saying came directly from Fife.Better tell fatjohns that. He seems content smearing fife.
Here's the full list of 40/40 guys (at least 40 treys and 40%) in order of most made 3'sThe other thing that surprised me was Pat Graham not being one of the 4.
Man did injuries rob him... and us as fan. We always talk about the what ifs with Alan Henderson's injury, but what if PG plays more than 13 games that 92-93 year or even played at all in 91-92???
BTW, he shot 56.9% on 3s with 41 made in 93-94 and 48% on his career.

We decided to watch the Oklahoma game on the big screens at Assembly Hall, then head to Atlanta if IU beat the Sooners. I got so sick from the celebration on Kirkwood that I had to lay out on the Maryland game. Still think my missing mojo might've cost us the Title... lol
Pat was acutely hindered by diabetes. Always took longer for his injuries to get back to play. With good health he possibly would have the #'s = of and be revered up there with Alford. He had high BB IQ. Damn shame. The other thing that surprised me was Pat Graham not being one of the 4.

An Honorable Mention to that list would be Ted Kitchel. In 1983 the Big 10 experimented with the 3 point shot and Kitchel hit a ridiculous 21 of 32 for 65.6%!!Imagine Alford with the 3 for all four seasons. Amazing accomplishment to be #1 on the list.
Wonder what Steve Green would have shot if he had the three? An Honorable Mention to that list would be Ted Kitchel. In 1983 the Big 10 experimented with the 3 point shot and Kitchel hit a ridiculous 21 of 32 for 65.6%!!
It was just a normal jumper for him. I don't remember the actual distance, but it was short. An Honorable Mention to that list would be Ted Kitchel. In 1983 the Big 10 experimented with the 3 point shot and Kitchel hit a ridiculous 21 of 32 for 65.6%!!
Coach Woodson said Dane will always be part of the IU family. Therefore what he eats or where he goes is of importance to us.Why are you still posting about Dane? He is not affiliated with Indiana Basketball.
It's kinda crazy though, only MSU's Scott Skiles hit over 20 (25-50). OSU only took two 3's on that Big 10 season, and I think it was Minnesota that went 0-1. Wittman was 8 of 18, Iowa's Bob Hanson was 10 of 20 and Illinois's Derek Harper was 13 of 27.It was just a normal jumper for him. I don't remember the actual distance, but it was short.
Here's a couple of stories about the experimental year. The first story is national and the second one is Big 10 specific at the halfway point of the season. Northwestern missed 16 of their first 18 tries. It was just a normal jumper for him. I don't remember the actual distance, but it was short.
It appears the Big 10 experimented with a 21 ft shot, while the ACC had the really short one of 17'9. I remember Whittenburg tearing up that 3 point line, after returning from the broken foot. Apparently many schools didn't even track the 3 point shot that year, because sports-reference doesn't have Whitt's stats. It was just a normal jumper for him. I don't remember the actual distance, but it was short.
My memory sucks. I could have sworn it wasn't that much longer the the ACC arc, which seemed like it touched the foul line LOL.It appears the Big 10 experimented with a 21 ft shot, while the ACC had the really short one of 17'9. That sounds right to me, but the only article I found, that actually mentions the distance, said 21 feet. I thought it would be easy to find out (I haven't looked real hard), but so far it's not as easy as I wanted it to be.I thought the trial season was around 19' 9".
