Gaetz withdraws from AG consideration

You can only lose 3 votes. No way Collins or Murkowski are voting for him. Considering they all hate him.... Not going to be that hard to find a couple more. A bunch just got elected to another 6 year term and will be there long after Trump is gone.
Remember their little secret?

As much as I hope you're right about this, I can't honestly say that I'm confident that much will come from it. Remember the Bowles-Simpson Commission? It actually came up with some reasonable ideas -- and won the votes of two sitting US Senators who also sat on the Commission (the late Tom Coburn and Dick Durbin). You know what Obama did with his commission's recommendations? Basically never even mentioned them again.
Obama was just looking out for the tens of thousands of federal employees who would have been negatively impacted. Elon-Vivek DOGE Dudes just rolls off the tongue as opposed to The Bowles-Simpson Commission and the principals are media savvy.

If Matt Gaetz had spent 10 years as US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and 10 years before that as a state AG, he'd still be the worst pick in the history of the cabinet.

It's not his lack of qualifications that makes this so outrageous -- although that is certainly outrageous. It's him. His character, his personality, his total immaturity, his lack of basic merits as a public official. He destroyed McCarthy's speakership. And for what? What purpose was served by that? Just to show that he could? Did conservatives gain any legislative benefit from his nihilistic destruction?
Everyone screams 'qualifications' when someone is nominated they don't like.

Guys like TwentyIQ still think Cabinet positions aren't political appointments.

Of course they are political. But the big 4 are the actual serious ones. Not reserved for political hackery.
Appointing Hillary as Sec of State wasn't political hackery?

What, in her background, made her even remotely qualified, other than being married to a President?

Pedophilia generally pisses people off.
Was he charged or convicted of anything, or are you so butthurt you lost you’re just going to slander people? I’m sure @UncleMark will zap your post given his disdain for throwing that term around flippantly, unless he’s still struggling to find a reason to live…

What was the offending term?

McCarthy was/is RINO scum who spared no opportunity to undermine his own party's President.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

God forbid someone would attempt to break up this cartel that has put this country $35****ing TRILLION in debt.

Exactly. This is about the only way you can describe this.

As I said, I get the qualms about Hegseth and Gabbard.

I'm actually a little bit intrigued by the Hegseth pick. I honestly think it could end up being a pretty good one. And I get Trump wanting to reward Gabbard for her support -- although I don't know what would've been wrong with VA Secretary or Interior. Still, it's something that I can live with.

But...this? I mean, this can only be described as some kind of a troll appointment. We're talking about a guy who heckled the former Speaker of the House on the floor of the Republican convention like a 3rd grader. "Hey Kevin, what time are you speaking tonight? What time? Oh, you're not? That's right, because you'd get booed off the stage!"

...only to later take the stage himself and embarrassingly reveal having some kind of bizarre work done to his face before his big primetime blast.

iu
That is some weird shit for a man to have done…

Exactly. I was going to post about that commission. They couldn’t be happy about spending all that time and coming up with good recommendations to see nothing come of it.

Dude, whatever you think of Hillary, she was (and still is) wildly more competent than Gaetz. Let's be real here. This is the American government we're talking about. Not some shitty frat joke.
That’s a separate point that DANC wasn’t debating. Hillary was 100% given the position because she was married to Bill Clinton.

@mcmurtry66 Danc got himself another scalp. Sorry, twenty, Dan just put you in the Dream Team blender. Good luck getting out.

Sorry no, not even close dipshit. Hilary had been a Senator for 8 years and had come very close to getting the Dem nomination for President in 2008. The horse trading that ended the 2008 primary battle is a very much a normal thing.

Well, if he does zap it, he zaps it. I don't worry about that shit like you thin-skinned conservatives do. It's just a message board.

And I think I have posted that about Gaetz prior to the election, which I "lost", so it has nothing to do with any butthurt. For "winning" this election so bigly, you guys sure do a lot of whining, crying, and airing of grievances on here. Other than your admitted enjoyment of laughing at others who have a different political ideology than you, your online persona sure seem kind of miserable.
Also, as I was telling a friend of mine, I have lived under a bunch of presidents, both liberal and conservative, and have voted for both parties, and to be honest, my life has not changed...at all as a result of any election, and the resident of the White House has had zero impact on my life. In the whole scheme of things, having a probable pedophile as the AG really won't mean squat to my life either.
And neither will Mark zapping my posts.

Miserable? Even if I was, I could ride out this schadenfreude for at least a few months. 😁. For someone that thinks the POTUS won’t impact your life, you sure have been a douche, in your mind unnecessarily, to a lot of folks.😉

If there was ever any doubt about whether or not Trump took his office seriously, this should answer the question.

"Troll appointment" is the perfect term. This is Trump pwning the libs, while jacking up the dbm's out there. Even Trump has to know this isn't going to make it through the confirmation process, and it would require the cooperation of the entire Pub caucuses of both the House and the Senate to pull off his recess appointments gambit.

Despite the margin, it still may be difficult for some Trump nominees, especially Gaetz and Gabbard to get across the finish line.

When asked if Trump was testing members, Rounds responded in the affirmative.

“It remains to be seen,” Rounds said with a hearty laugh. “But we have wondered whether that may be part of the discussion.”

Even the Senators feel like they are being trolled with both this one and Tulsi.

I've only been a douche to the douches. I know I've explained that before.

For the record, I’ve just been talking sh#t, rubbing it in, spiking the football, and doing numerous victory dances. I really like winning.
