Gaetz withdraws from AG consideration

I think the point is, what point is there in following the Constitution when your political opponents ignore it?

I don't agree with temporarily appointing a Cabinet member for however many days, but recess appointments are covered in the Constitution, although with conditions, of course.

This is the danger of Democrat lawfare. When you find clever ways to circumvent the Constitution, don't be surprised when Republicans play that game. It's not right, but you can't expect one side to follow one set of rules and the other side another.

Because it doesn't matter if Republicans follow the Constitution - Democrats gonna Democrat.

As I recall, the last President that attempted to abuse the recess appointment process was Obama (for some NLRB seats) and he got smacked down by the SCOTUS, and the appointments were invalidated

Isn't blowing shit up and kissing Trump's ass the whole point of MAGA?
Other than love of country, god, family and watching what the DNC and swamp ( repetitive, I know) has done for 8+ yrs to build a coup against the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Yea, it’s all about ass kissing.
You may have to drive for Orielly too, once justice is served! Trump is coming and he’s bringing hell with him. Remember, you said you approved “at any cost”.
The “tax” collector was just land slide elected. The cost is going to be enormous! For your side.

I get that MAGA does not like what Garland has done as AG, but to say he doesn’t have the bona fides is absurd. To compare his background to Gaetz is laughable.

A native of the Chicago area, Garland attended Harvard University and Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He served as a law clerk to Judge Henry Friendly of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and to U.S. Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr., and then practiced corporate litigation at Arnold & Porter, after which he worked as a federal prosecutor in the United States Department of Justice, where he supervised the investigation and prosecution of the Oklahoma City bombers. President Bill Clintonappointed Garland to the D.C. Court of Appeals in 1997, and he served as its chief judge from 2013 to 2020.

Come on, Brad, we have bases all over the mid-East and Africa, running ops every day.

No, we're not in officially declared 'war', but we're fighting terrorism globally. The Pentagon didn't even release anything on the latest attack on our bases in Syria and Iraq.
Why didn't Trump end them his first term?

LOL, dmb went there. Now compare the evidence for the relative mental abilities of Mayor Pete and Matt Gaetz. Yeah, degrees aren't everything, but this is like Neil DeGrasse Tyson vs. Lauren Boebert.

Pete: HS valedictorian, Harvard dual BA in History and Literature (Magna Cum Laude), Rhodes Scholar, Oxford Bachelor of Arts degrees highest honours in philosophy, politics, and economics, multiple honors and awards such as nationwide first prize in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum's Profiles in Courage essay contest.

Gaetz: BS, in whatever-the-f*ck is "interdisciplinary sciences" at Florida State, did somehow finish William and Mary Law School, has only had his law license suspended once. Lightweight.

DBM, have you never worked a day in your life?

Basically any job, government or otherwise, requires regular shredding of a multitude of non-confidential documents.

Just this morning I shredded about 100 pages describing all of the benefits enrollment options that I just signed up for. Now that I have signed up and my choices are locked in, I have no use for all of the options that I didn't pick. For what I DID pick, the info is all online. Some of the paperwork had my name and address on it, so the clear choice was to shred it.

I’m certainly not gonna defend Gaetz. But Buttegeig’s lengthily pedigree hasn’t given him any ability to apply any smarts in the real world. The guy is a total bust. His highest and best use is to write position papers about racist highways, leave the doing for others who actually do things. .

A match is cheaper and more efficient

His intelligence was so valued in the Army that he was a driver for a Colonel in Iraq.

Not denigrating his service, but that's not exactly a high skill level job.

LOL, media reports where GOP congressmen say, on camera mind you, what Gaetz showed them and said to them.

Media reports where eyewitnesses discuss WATCHING Gaetz boink a 17 year old girl.

Media reports where other women discuss trading sex to Gaetz for cash.

Interesting. I don't think you and @Ty Webb iu mean the same thing when you speak of shadow wars then because when I googled it like he asked, I got a list of 12-15 shadow wars that right-leaning outlets talk about. All but one were active through the Trump administration and one could make the argument that the one was as well.

I guess I'll recycle Brad's post - what shadow wars are you talking about?

chosen bc he was gay with an administration charged with the woke identity politics you love and was immediately totally worthless. no different than harris

people who think like you are totally worthless

biden and harris were effectively dumb and dumber. outside shitter dumb. they didn't pick based on merit. on qualifications. they picked based on identity. is he a trans. is he gay. is it a woman. black. this is the opposite side of the same coin. not because gaetz would be a good ag but because he satisfies other criteria that have zero to do with actual qualifications for the job

I don't think Garland was picked based on identity. He was picked for the following reasons:

95% - He got ****ed over for the SC Seat
5% - He was also qualified.

Nah, he was chosen because he backed Biden against Bernie, early, and had a good showing in the primary.

Unlike Harris.

Yeah it was also the time of woke on roids and he fit the narrative. In retrospect I wish Bernie would have gotten his shot. If they were going to go far left give it to Bernie
He did, but he did well in the campaign and is smart and I thought it was a good pick.

I think he could run in the future and do pretty well.

if we had video of Gaetz banging a 10 year old boy, some here would still defend him, as long as Trump still defends him.
