Where’s law enforcement? The AG nomination is just cover. I mean, how is this not obvious? But the dems, again, go hysterical over the Trump appointment instead of the underlying chess move. Idiots.
This pick (Gaetz as AG) was preposterous even by Trump standards. It only makes sense as a quid pro quo - - Trump gives Gaetz the smooth exit from Congress he needs in order to shut down the probe and keep the report under wraps. In return, Gaetz agrees to do Trump's personal bidding as the nation's top law enforcement officer. Who knows what happens if the appointment doesn't go through, but I'm sure there's a backup plan. You do know that there was a potentially damning ethics investigation report that would have likely resulted in charges, right? And there are Republicans that are saying they suspect that's why he resigned - to keep that from seeing the light of day.
From the article linked above:
Other GOP House colleagues believe his decision is actually tied to an Ethics Committee report investigating several allegations including that Gaetz engaged in sex with a minor, which they believe was poised to be released in a matter of days....
...One House Republican, granted anonymity to speak candidly, tied Gaetz’s resignation to trying to “stymie the ethics investigation that is coming out in one week.”
Ethics Chair Michael Guest (R-Miss.) told reporters ahead of Gaetz’s announced resignation that the probe would end if Gaetz was no longer a member of the House.
“Once the investigation is complete, the Ethics Committee will meet as a committee. We will then return our findings. If Matt Gaetz is still a member of Congress, then that will occur. If Matt has resigned, then this ethics investigation, like many others in the past, will end again,” Guest told reporters about the impact of Gaetz being picked for attorney general.
His resignation was for this Congress. He could step out of trying to be AG in January and go back to his seat from this election. Congress would be urged to not investigate again, and if they do it will be slow. This pick (Gaetz as AG) was preposterous even by Trump standards. I dunno. I'm sure the House Ethics committee could refer it if they wanted to but the evidence is probably more of a "damaging" nature than particularly able to chin a criminal bar.Where’s law enforcement?
He is a super candidate because he is the most likely to give everyone their candy. Tax cuts and spending. This isn't rocket science. What it does do is pull the GOP a little bit away from Corporate economics into kitchen table economics. People don't give a shit that their 401k's are doing well if they can't buy a house or live comfortably with the wealth available to them today.
Get off Facebook….you are a perfect example of why Trump curb stomped HarrisMaybe Jared from Subway can be assistant AG
"super candidate" = cult leader
she was under ageDevil's advocate: Why?
Clinton was a good President (just assume that). He was a slimeball in his personal life.
Do one's sexual proclivities affect their ability to do a job (outside an addiction that undermines work ethic, obviously)? Does one's use of cocaine in the past automatically disqualify one from public office? Why? I'm guessing a lot of people in power that lived through the 80s, for example, did cocaine. Why does that disqualify?
Added consideration: we just elected a man with Trump's background and character. How is Gaetz's different or worse in relation to either societal norms or his particular qualifications for the office and its responsibilities?
Being an ignorant racist sexist idiot tax fraud fake minister is tough in any state. That dude needs to disappear.Yes, bigly. The Dems put a lot of money into a smear campaign. And Robinson was a political novice and not backed very well by Republicans. Being black in NC is still a liability in NC when it comes to state offices.
lmao No, I'm not opposed to him for accusations made against him that were investigaed by Biden's DoJ with no charges filed. You're not opposed to Gaetz for the crimes he's credibly accused of?
Cool. I'll mark you down for being OK with child sex trafficking and sex with minors. There really is no other way to spin what you've written here. This is truly a reprehensible take, DANC.
The senate with their 6 year terms gave a giant middle finger to Trump with Thune. Trump is seething about no Rick Scott but some in government will not lick his boot, I don’t mind that! That’s different than what they originally said. Thune originally only said he’d consider it, but wanted to use the normal confirmation process. I seriously doubt Thine will allow recess appointments for clown nominees like Gaetz.
I tried to tell them....The AG nomination is just cover. I mean, how is this not obvious? But the dems, again, go hysterical over the Trump appointment instead of the underlying chess move. Idiots.
I thought his resignation would trigger a special election? His resignation was for this Congress. He could step out of trying to be AG in January and go back to his seat from this election. Congress would be urged to not investigate again, and if they do it will be slow.
No, no..... I want these fools to keep spewing nonsense. It will just make 2028 a cakewalk for Republicans.Get off Facebook….you are a perfect example of why Trump curb stomped Harris
Too bad you didn't go to a school that taught how to use commas.Being an ignorant racist sexist idiot tax fraud fake minister is tough in any state. That dude needs to disappear.
As I heard it this morning, and the guy could be wrong, that the resignation is technically only for this Congress. So he would have to submit one for next. I honestly have no idea how it all works.I thought his resignation would trigger a special election?
I'm pretty sure he can't just step back in, but I don't really know either. Just going by what I read on the Cooler, which is never wrong. As I heard it this morning, and the guy could be wrong, that the resignation is technically only for this Congress. So he would have to submit one for next. I honestly have no idea how it all works.
5d chess ~~~ !!In his defense, didn't he just this week question the Rubio pick of SoS?
Could we simply have this little note added to every Leftist post going forward?and the guy could be wrong
lmao No, I'm not opposed to him for accusations made against him that were investigaed by Biden's DoJ with no charges filed.
Are you on the spectrum?
I'm not defending him. Just stating facts. That's your problem - you don't undestand the difference.Man, I’m really glad I’m not in a position to have to try and defend someone like Matt Gaetz.
I’m sorry DANC but you’re wrong here and it’s pretty effed up.
WHOA ! ! ! @DANC Ohio thinks you are wrong...Man, I’m really glad I’m not in a position to have to try and defend someone like Matt Gaetz.
I’m sorry DANC but you’re wrong here and it’s pretty effed up.
Danc defendedTrump’s being a frequent flyer on the LoLita Express, now Gaetz as Justice- seems like we know what Trump wants and it’s others who don’t want legal age gals! Sadly only I seem to stand against pedophilia in the WC. Very disturbingYou guys have the balls to stand up to his worst instincts? I don't think you do.
botox obsession ?
Yeah - child sex trafficking and sex with minors is so funny. What the f*%k is wrong with you people?WHOA ! ! ! @DANC Ohio thinks you are wrong...
Blahhahahahahahahhahaahahaa OHHHH "Effed up" level wrong.. ... muahahahahahahahahhaa
Yeah - this is super disturbing. I’m actually shocked by some of the responses here. I naively thought sex trafficking and sex with minors was universally shunned and flatly rejected as morally abhorrent.Danc defendedTrump’s being a frequent flyer on the LoLita Express, now Gaetz as Justice- seems like we know what Trump wants and it’s others who don’t want legal age gals! But is it really that important to you, like really? If it wasn't something that YOU could kind of tie to Trump, would you pick this up off of the 24 hours news? ..IF Trump wasn't mentioned?Yeah - child sex trafficking and sex with minors is so funny. What the f*%k is wrong with you people?
Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I still think those are pretty serious accusations. You guys seem to be cool with it though.
You are defending him. You’re saying that the crimes he’s being investigated for are made up. That’s not stating facts.I'm not defending him. Just stating facts. That's your problem - you don't undestand the difference.
Are you serious? He has been nominated as Attorney General. You should google it.But is it really that important to you, like really? If it wasn't something that YOU could kind of tie to Trump, would you pick this up off of the 24 hours news? ..IF Trump wasn't mentioned?
I know we all know the answer, so do the GREEN thing and don't reply. That would only add to climate change. ... NOOO STOPP... I saw you reaching for the keyboard, just stop. You are only going to add to climate destruction..
NOOO ! ! ! Stop it. Step away. Bad dog, no biscuit until you step away!
So you agree that it's only because of his ties to Trump, that it's important to you.Are you serious? He has been nominated as Attorney General. You should google it.
I’m not sure this is the ‘gotcha’ you think it is.So you agree that it's only because of his ties to Trump, that it's important to you.
You could have simply said that, but here you are burning up more greenhouse gasses, creating an argument. We lost 3 limbs off of a tree in Siberia just because of your reply (you know how precious those are?).
Do you not care about the environment? You don't care about killing millions by the KILLobytes that you send by creating this argument?I’m not sure this is the ‘gotcha’ you think it is.
I’d love nothing more than to have read about Matt Gaetz today getting indicted for his crimes and fall off as a random footnote to history.
You’re right - Trump does want to name an accused child trafficker and statutory rapist Attorney General. You tell me - what is the appropriate response to that?
Yeah - this is super disturbing. I’m actually shocked by some of the responses here. I naively thought sex trafficking and sex with minors was universally shunned and flatly rejected as morally abhorrent.
Shapiro made the argument that the Dems who went to extremes to go after Trump, not caring if it was wise or not, "weaponizing" the federal and state prosecutorial system and just caring about getting Trump thrown in jail or made unelectable, are now reaping what they sowed.Again, the majority of voters think the price of a gallon of gas and a Big Mac is more important than character, country, and the rule of law. I suspect there are any number of Trump voters who today are chagrined with Trump's nominations, but those who were all in on him before will be all in on him for the next four years. And while that may be disturbing, it shouldn't be surprising. We reap what we sow.

Those accusations should be investigated by law enforcement…not a congressional ethics committeeYeah - child sex trafficking and sex with minors is so funny. What the f*%k is wrong with you people?

I guess I was trying to paraphrase Will Muney:Trump tried to overturn a free and fair election and stole troves of state secrets. The majority didn't seem to care.
Blow me shit all you want. I'm just having a hard time reconciling that the majority of my countrymen have a different moral compass than I do. Then again, I don't drive much and rarely eat out.
I don’t disagree. Those accusations should be investigated by law enforcement…not a congressional ethics committee
