Gaetz for AG

This pick (Gaetz as AG) was preposterous even by Trump standards. It only makes sense as a quid pro quo - - Trump gives Gaetz the smooth exit from Congress he needs in order to shut down the probe and keep the report under wraps. In return, Gaetz agrees to do Trump's personal bidding as the nation's top law enforcement officer. Who knows what happens if the appointment doesn't go through, but I'm sure there's a backup plan.
His resignation was for this Congress. He could step out of trying to be AG in January and go back to his seat from this election. Congress would be urged to not investigate again, and if they do it will be slow.
I dunno. I'm sure the House Ethics committee could refer it if they wanted to but the evidence is probably more of a "damaging" nature than particularly able to chin a criminal bar.
He is a super candidate because he is the most likely to give everyone their candy. Tax cuts and spending. This isn't rocket science. What it does do is pull the GOP a little bit away from Corporate economics into kitchen table economics. People don't give a shit that their 401k's are doing well if they can't buy a house or live comfortably with the wealth available to them today.
It really is that simple.

As I heard it this morning, and the guy could be wrong, that the resignation is technically only for this Congress. So he would have to submit one for next. I honestly have no idea how it all works.
I'm pretty sure he can't just step back in, but I don't really know either. Just going by what I read on the Cooler, which is never wrong.

Nevermind that most the accounts of him showing pictures and bragging about sleeping with underage girls come from Republicans/conservative legislators and the House Ethics committee is bipartisan. You think there is no merit to the investigation because Joe Biden is president.

Again, the majority of voters think the price of a gallon of gas and a Big Mac is more important than character, country, and the rule of law. I suspect there are any number of Trump voters who today are chagrined with Trump's nominations, but those who were all in on him before will be all in on him for the next four years. And while that may be disturbing, it shouldn't be surprising. We reap what we sow.
Shapiro made the argument that the Dems who went to extremes to go after Trump, not caring if it was wise or not, "weaponizing" the federal and state prosecutorial system and just caring about getting Trump thrown in jail or made unelectable, are now reaping what they sowed.

Trump tried to overturn a free and fair election and stole troves of state secrets. The majority didn't seem to care.

Those accusations should be investigated by law enforcement…not a congressional ethics committee
