Is the House Ethics Committee still investigating him for sex with a minor and drug use?
I guess being investigated isn't technically disqualifying, but come on.
I voted a straight D ticket, but GOP voters are getting exactly what they voted for. Not sure why anyone is surprised or disappointed.
That’s different than what they originally said. Thune originally only said he’d consider it, but wanted to use the normal confirmation process. I seriously doubt Thine will allow recess appointments for clown nominees like Gaetz.
That's dealing with the fact that certain appointments get held up in the Senate for months/years. It's not happening for cabinet level posts. So move on from that

I will be contacting Sen. Young and urging him to vote against this nomination. Matt Gaetz is a childish, immature scumbag who has absolutely no business being the top law enforcement officer of the United States.
This is almost certainly the worst cabinet pick that any president-elect has made in the history of the United States. If Trump had any shame at all.....but, of course, he doesn't.
This has got to be a trolling nomination to cover up for the horrible choices at DNI and DOD.

Look, I can deal with the nominations of Hegseth and Gabbard. I can understand the opposition to them. But I don't think they're completely off the rails.

But Matt Gaetz is basically Beavis at 40 years old. Nominating him is an absolute joke.
I'm an independent fyi. I don't believe in any idolization or strict ideology. Whether trump or musk or wokeness. People are partisans like we are playing sports.

I think it's more likely the Senate will vote to outright confirm. Mcowski and Collins can vote no and the others will go along. If not expect a recess appointment. No one will dare oppose trump imo.
I voted for D only as a vote against R because they have reached a very dangerous place imo. I disagree with much of the D agenda.
First of all, I don't agree with the premise -- mainly because you used the term "completely." Is the DOJ politicized? Yes, it is. And I honestly don't think that's anything new.
But Merrick Garland has taken a lot of heat from the left for not acting more forcefully against Trump. That's true, that has happened. Jeff Sessions was asked to resign by then-President Trump for not being more willing to shield him from the Russia investigation. That, also, happened.
The Democratic DOJ just came down hard on a Democratic Senator from New Jersey -- who served for many years with the current POTUS.
So I do not agree with you that all of our institutions are "completely" politicized.
However, even if you were right, do you think the solution to that is Matt Gaetz?

And I'd be very surprised if Todd Young supports him. Young is a serious, level-headed guy.

Why not? Those just elected don’t run again for six years, many have four years left. Neither of those groups will need to worry about Trump politically. Those with six years know Trump will have been gone for two years and ancient, if still alive. In four years Trump’s approval numbers will likely be in the 30s or low 40s like they were before the 2020 election. He’ll be no threat politically. They’ll be running away from him. Gaetz won’t be confirmed. I’d bet on that one.
Something we knew we would be getting with Trump is another 4 years of chaos. Let the games begin.
Wherever Tulsi ends up, I will throw my hat into the ring to be her undersecretary...
