See Schedule F, numbnuts..

8,000 political hacks with their own union and lobbyists....

DOA come January 21, 2025.
You said the cases had something to do with SES personnel, and those cases still have nothing to do with SES personnel. Also, they aren't political appointees and very few if any SES personnel are in unions (most government workers aren't in unions). Schedule F is not about SES personnel alone. It was Trump's effort to politicize government employees by getting rid of any that weren't perceived to be loyal to HIM and hire people that were loyal to him. This is not a good idea and was shut down. Trump very likely cannot implement Schedule F via Executive Order as he was trying to do. It's very unlikely to be implemented this time around.

I'm not an expert on Schedule F, but doesn't that essentially make tens of thousands of civil servants political appointees serving at the pleasure of the Executive Branch? How is that a net positive?

I feel like non-political civil servants is a nice feature, not a bug.

And also, this is pretty much part of the Project 2025 playbook Trump said he didn't know anything about. Weird how it looks like he's going to start implementing everything in it.

There's a lot to unpack in all this, but bottom line is this extends back to Jimmy Carter administration. Embellished by Oblameless and execrable Deep State political operatives to create a large army of untouchable political appointees who are not even considered federal employees...able to obstruct, slow walk or just ignore the Executive Branch, and more importantly, the American people, who pay their way...who do you think lives in all of those $million mansions in Northern Virginia?
Gaetz scares the shit out of those functionaries.

Political appointees aren't untouchable. The President can replace any of them. Some require Senate Confirmation when appointed. The Senate doesn't have to be consulted when removing them.

You don't know what you're talking about. Again.

So day 1 Trump can go in and fire a majority of the DOJ, FBI, Pentagon, etc with the stroke of a pen?

If it's a political appointment they serve at the pleasure of the President and can be removed at any time. They also all basically resign every time a new admin comes in. US attorneys, agency directors, etc.

What you are talking about are career federal employees. SES are usually career federal employees. Some SES are political appointments, usually agency heads etc. They rotate in/out based upon the administration.

Personal politics is one thing; civil servant jobs aren’t currently political appointments. I get why that might be confusing or a hard concept for you to grasp. If you need more help, just let me know.

Agenda 47/Project 2025 are essentially the same thing. i never said Trump helped write it, but he’s certainly espousing a lot of the most troubling parts of it. If you want to call that a coincidence, knock yourself out.

Any of the political appointees can be fired by the President. The vast majority of the DOJ, FBI, DOD, etc. are not political appointees. The leadership is. Presidents don't fire everyone at once because it would cripple those departments and agencies. They usually ask incumbents to stay until they have a replacement for them. Most often certain appointees are retained. Of course that's what NORMAL Presidents do, and we know Trump is abnormal.

OK. That still doesn’t justify turning the civil service into a sycophantic wing of the government serving at the pleasure of the executive branch. Would you feel any differently if Obama or Biden tried this? I’m guessing you would.

And this could come back to blow up in republican faces when democrats eventually win back the White House.

Actually, they typically offer their resignations, and the President doesn't accept them all or replaces them in an orderly manner.

This...
The SES is the duck blind allowing political rent-seekers to hide from accountability and consequences for their partisan behavior.
You've made it abundantly clear that you have absolutely no clue about how the SES works or how people get into SES jobs. The vast, vast majority of the SES came up through the civil service ranks. They are very apolitical and there are legal consequences for any that are inappropriately political. Political appointees are permitted to be political but even they have legal restrictions.
