Fernando

Interesting dynamic with his younger brother already on our team. There are rumors that he might want to head back home to Miami with Cam Ward going to the draft. Not sure what their other QB situation is down there. The Cal head coach was blindsided by it. He was a crowd favorite at Cal. Cal is playing in a bowl game and apparently they’re not going to play him as they are splitting reps with their second third string quarterbacks.

With Tino heading to UCLA, I'd think Fernando would follow...and maybe little brother...
What’s the logic here? Am I missing something with the depth of their relationship? Unless there is an abnormally close relationship here, I just don’t see why that would be a factor. Go to a middling program for a coach that I love but that is an unknown as a play caller. For a guy to uproot himself at a similar situation because of his NFL aspirations only to land in a spot with no better prospects would be baffling.

Tino = QB guru. Likely a big reason little brother came to IU.

Yeah, I say this as someone that loves Tino and am praying that if Shannahan leaves we bring him back, but I think this notion that he is widely viewed as a QB guru is overblown. Not his offense or his team, and for that matter CIG has a stronger track record with QBs.

These are words too, but do nothing to further my argument just as yours didn't further your own. You could be right, but I find the basis for your point to be lacking for anything solid.

that's why i wonder if the bruins went after shanahan first and when he wasn't interested they settled for tino.

I don’t think so. From what I read I believe Tino and Foster have a long standing relationship. Although I have no inside scoop I would venture to guess Tino was his first choice and IMO a good choice. I think he will do well.

I have a strong inkling that if Tino was actively recruiting Alberto off the current roster all while recruiting Fernando against IU he wouldn't be in the building any more. I don't think UCLA is a major player here and have seen a few tweets from UCLA who suggest Fernando is a pipe dream.
