I’m with Bill, Chris, & Sean. TWBB is the best movie of the past 20 years or so. DDL as Daniel Plainview is as good as any performance I’ve seen…The Rewatchables just did a podcast on There Will Be Blood. It came out in 2007, the same year as No Country for Old Men. The podcasters were arguing TWBB was actually the better movie between the two.
I don't think they've ever been more wrong. No Country is the best movie of the 2000s so far, in my mind. It is perfect. Not a syllable of dialogue is off; every wide shot is impactful. Much of the storytelling is done without talking, and using the camera.
