Favorite memories here?

Crean's most cringe moment?

Maybe the net cutting ceremony
yeah for me, the Cuse loss was the most disappointing, but cutting down the nets to celebrate ....after a literal loss at TAH on senior day.....serious W-in-the-F moment.

Has any team ever cut down the nets after a regular season win?

And with that said...has ANY team...EVER.....done it after a loss?

For me Crean’s cringiest moment was right after beating Michigan for the BIG title and getting in the face of a Michigan dude with the ‘you wrecked that program’ comment.

You gotta be a weirdo to do something like that, in that moment.
Jeff Meyer. Yeah, that really weird smirk and his sprint to the locker room after that comment....

Actually, that one bothered me less only because Meyer was part of the staff that wrecked the program.

I’ve always enloyed, no cherished, those magical days when a Kentucky fan would stop by and impart their wisdom on basketball and even life in general.

Those videos were from me ("Wanatah")-- I had original VHS of 81 final game and some others. He had one of the first DVD recorders and I sent him the tapes. I still have the DVDs.
Yep. He worked for the USPS IIRC. It's crazy how busy this site used to be under Peegs in its hayday.

I remember the recruitment of Kei Madison... Devin Ebanks.... and Monty Marcaccini. There were the disappointing misses of Gary Harris, and before him Chris Hill both leaving Indiana for MSU. And of course everyone remembers the miss on Keion Brooks.

Recruiting dramas that stand out to me.

Why did Monte Maraccini not show up? He had committed, correct? He went to Pepperdine and was in the 1994 Hoosier Classis at Market Square but the two teams didnt meet. Also played at Virginia. Not really a loss on the basketball side but interesting story.

Guys like him, Robert Foster, Bert Klasson etc were definately head scratchers.

Monte and family now own an Italian ice empire in CA. I think his knees were shot before he reached 19 yrs old.

Don’t forget Family member Josh Smith.

Remind me the name of the recruit IU lost on Crean’s home visit. I seem to recall he didn’t flush his tightly-pinched and processed lunch because he forgot, couldn’t for the clog or his sick sense of humor, his penchant for gifting of surprise “presents”. I don’t think it’s ever been determined to any degree of certainty. What think Ye?

Another infamous Crean moment discussed here was the odd look on his face when Wat’s shot tickled net for the buzzer beater. I think he might have been hiking up his britches at the same time. It wasn’t the look one might expect for such an explosive moment, like maybe his reaction time was slow. Could he have mistaken his wife’s Thorazine tablets for morning vitamins?

Recruitments that broke me:

Tier 1
Sean may
Oden
Conley
Liam Mcneeley
Braylon Mullins

Tier 2
Kia Madison
Moses Abraham
Theo Pinson
Kyle guy
Isiah Whitehead

Recruitments that moved the needle
Ebanks
That dude that went to UCLA

The Movement - I envisioned Jeremy Hollowell as our Jalen Rose. The entire summer thinking we were going to make an unethical move for Ron Patterson and Gary Harris.

There was no bigger waste of time than discussing ‘creaning’. And we did it for years.
I'd have to put Eric Montross up there in Tier 1.

Josh Smith would have been a good one. It was either us or the NBA. He came with S.T.U.D. embossed on his forehead.

Eric Montross was the one that hurt alot. Adding him to that class with Bailey would have probably meant two more titles for Indiana. Definately atleast 1. His senior year as well at IU could have challenged for a natty in 93-94. Bailey was the top 10 kid that was a Hoosier since puberty, but Montross was the top 5 kid Knight needed to finish off the masterpeice.

We were so rich in talent at that time, montross picking UNC was like a shrug of the shoulder loss.

Yeah, if Pat Graham had never had his foot issues, 92 & 93 could have been even a touch better. IU has had a lot of what could have been injury wise and the Graham injury, although not May & Hendserson level losses was a big loss in itself.

Glen Grunwald’s knee injury hurt us like we’ll never know. IU fans never got to see this high school phenom out of Chicago without a gimpy knee, heavily bandaged. He had one of the softest, effortless-looking strokes I’d seen until Jay Edwards came along.

Montross' old man was never going to let that happen

Sobbing about IU in his vids with the worst mouth Herpes I have ever seen.
"You hoosiers, I'll give it to you guys.. You may get a lead on Kentucky early, but you arent going to win. You suck Indiana!"

Man i wish so much VJ3 hadnt injured his leg in B1G against PSU, as having him against UK for the rematch would have had the Hoosiers winning again. That and 34-36 from free throw line for them. lmao. When does rhat ever happen? UK was better, I agree. But IU had their gameplan against them. A healthy VJ3 for the sweet 16 ge and things could have been different.
