So is Boogie Ellis the Duke decommit still thinking about Memphis? I see where they just picked up another grad transfer plus Quinones. Would it be worth while to reach out to him?

I know you mean good, however, Archie is out of his boundary with
this recruit.

No these are kids we will not get. We don't play in the gutter. Best to develop a beilein type strategy where he got alot of guys ranked about 45th to 100. Its possible to get an occasional in state top 30 guy but for the most part you'll have to out spend the Memphis and LSU type programs.

According to 24/7, Ellis committed to Memphis about 4 hours ago...

Their "bag man" should win some sort of golden cell phone award for his work with the off-shore niece and nephew accounts...
Hypothetical: If a kid has his hand out, does a school that doesn't pony up and loses him as a result (let's pretend this happened with Ellis & Duke) have an obligation -- moral or otherwise -- to let the NCAA or other schools know?

I'll hang up and listen.

I'm fairly certain everyone else already knows...;) The NCAA just doesn't want any details...

When this board started we didn't see people clamoring for random guys named "Boogie" who de-committed from another school.

Maybe we need to ask who the heck won't you let onto the team? Sounds like anyone who is "ranked". Is that pretty much it?

There are no moral obligations amongst cheaters

Have you seen our recruiting lately? We don't exactly have many options, hell Purdue is stealing recruits from us. I don't really know that I want "Boogie" Ellis either, but I know why he asked the question. As a program we've became a joke to recruits, it's really starting to get sad.

There are a lot of kids who can play. I mean seriously play the game. A lot of guys don't spend all their time in AAU tourneys and may not fit the physical profile.... but they can really play. Tough as nails, shoot the lights out, quicker than lightning, etc.

When a coach runs out of the usual suspects, go get one of these guys. Don't settle for just any random list guy. Go get the guys who will help the team win games.

If I'm Archie, the conversations I'm having with high school coaches is- "who should we look at? Who can play? Who isn't on the list?"

Get out and make in roads and figure out who is a late bloomer or is flat out under-rated, especially when it comes to shooters.

Saying "we're screwed" because a kid who is only looking for a quick step to the NBA didn't sign, is ludicrous. Kids like that are low probability of ever playing hard enough to help the team be above average anyway.

Didnt know much of anything about Ellis other than he is a 2019 point/combo guard that is uncommitted.....until today anyway. Never hurts to ask the question.

IU doesn't pay for recruits.
Not going to win those with their hands out.
You have no evidence of proof at all. How about if this player inked
with Arizona LSU UNC or Auburn these programs and coaches have
proven guilt with runners and class scandals.

Oh yes, a lot of IU fans are desperate. They remember the last
final four.

It’s soooooooooooooooooo sad. It will never end............

Unless Arch wins a few more games this year...and adds another good class after a class that includes a really good big...

Other than that, We are a joke! The sun is dying! Blah blah blah

Oh he better make the tournament this year no doubt, if not we'll be hiring a new coach.

You're likely being sarcastic but everything you said is 100% true, and yes I would call not even making the tournament for 3 straight years and scoring just over 50 points during home games last year an absolute joke. No wonder recruits don't want to come here, I don't want to hear anymore excuses either, it's time to win. If not IU will find a coach that will.

Take a look a the rosters of this year's Final Four. Look back to when they wee being recruited. How many of them were 5 star one and dones? Those programs (Auburn maybe not so, yet) took what was out there to fit into their team, not into a draft choice, and molded them into what they do as a team. Look at the defense played there and all season by those teams. That's the kind of program I would like to see. You take all 5 star self lovers, I'll take smart kids with character who are committed to the team, university and community.

Whoa — that’s some mighty bold talk...that 90% of the board agrees with. Glad you got that off your chest...for the 1000th time...

Duke also cares less about inking a player to keep him from signing with a
rival team. Boogie Ellis signed early with Duke, however, Coach Krzyzewski
recruited another player of less skill to decreased his playing time.
No need for a HOF coach to break a players heart like this.

Forget about the Final Four. We just need to worry about making the 68 team tournament. Something we’ve only done 4 times in 11 years. How about we focus on that first.

3 wins from helping you avoid all that yucky embarrassment you are feeling...poor guy

Let's start with making the tournament then maybe we can worry about our ultimate goal. Last year's team and coaching staff couldn't even do that.

I'm feeling no embarrassment, I want IU to win sure, but it doesn't affect my life. I just want a team that plays hard and for each other. Last year's team did neither, that's why they're an embarrassment to themselves and the program.

I don't think I care anymore.
And yet, here I am on an IU forum...WTH.
I love IU basketball, but the NCAA is ridiculous!
So....I'm just going to see what happens.
I know one thing for certain, there's nothing about the IU program that is worth arguing over.
