If that was true, PU would have fired Painter years ago. Painter's resume is worse than Crean's, and he has never and will never make it past the Sweet 16.

You must have missed the statistics class because Crean’s record is no where close to surpassing Painter. Crean is 365-239 for his career and that is .605% he was 77-91 in the Big Ten

Painter is 332-160 for his career and that is .675%. Painter is 146-90 in Big Ten play for .619.

Nonetheless, Crean was fired at IU, in large part from not being able to get past the Sweet 16, and Painter still has a job: that speaks multitudes. I'm not making excuses, you are. Seriously, how can you get this excited about Painter at year 14? Once again, you just have to beat IU at Mackey to keep your job as PU coach.

If chasing elusive banners is all you yearn for you have missed a lot of quality basketball and experienced a whole lot of disappointing night’s that only come when 18-22 year old student athletes bust their guts to win basketball games for their coach and their school. Pray tell when will the national recruiting championship game be played.

Not really. More so that he had no idea how to attack a zone defense (syracuse), if you want to make it about S16 opponents. Losing to UNC and UK in the S16 were not bad losses.

That is kind of the point to all sports: trying to win the big one. You can't win the big one without the horses. I never said it made every season that does not result in a championship "disappointing." Interesting mental gymnastics for not being able to win the big one or get the necessary horses to do so.
