Dusty May

I'm not sure I can root for a guy who wears these glasses.

I'm getting MSU Tom Crean vibes....

If i were a betting man.
Unless he says no… He is IU head coach. Next season and on. May on forward

I agree... Given that his mom is an usher at IU games, you would think there would be some familial pressure to lead the team. Now that Michigan has started to re-do his contract, I think if there is not an announcement of a raise/extension before the NCAA Tournament begins, it's all but certain we'll be seeing those goofy glasses in every post-game conference next year.

I'm not sold on May. Hasn't proven enough for me. Give me one of the 4 B's. Brad, Beard, Bruce or Ben. And no way it's comparable to Cig.
May is unproven. One lucky run doesn't make him a genius. The brackets, upsets and matchups determine so much. Stevens caught lightening in a bottle then ran. He knew he couldn't sustain it. Beard has too much baggage and Pearl is too old. Ben McCollum is the right answer.

I agree with a lot of your comments, but how is McCollum proven when he hasn't even played a game against a ranked team? Plus, he runs an offensive system that prioritizes three point shooting less than Woody... Could be great, but unproven.

Of course after Brad turns us down.
Michigan has deep pockets. I think they are paying attention.

What more does he need to prove, and for how long? He has a final four at a backwater school, he never finished a season with a losing record, he turned around the program at Michigan and has them ranked #1 in the conference currently in his first year there. He is doing everything we defined as our criteria for success.

In your opinion, what are the chances May comes to IU? 75/50/25/0%

May would have to be very confident in himself to jump to IU after this season. If he fails to get IU to a Final Four in 4 years he is a bum and the calls for his head will start up. With how he left Michigan after one year, he would not get another P4 job except at a cellar dweller like Wake Forest. May taking the IU job is going all in on with 4 cards to a straight hoping to pull the middle card. If you win you win big, but odds are you lose everything. Braum at least stayed at Purdue for several years before going back to Louisville.

That isn’t the expectation here.

Card analogy doesn’t make sense, the odds aren’t bad at IU.

UM is a very good job, question is does he want the extra NIL, transfer flexibility, and bigger spotlight. Who knows.

Depends on his personality, but if we wanted May, we needed to act last year, and should have regardless if it was him. Being at a football school will shield him from down years, but higher academic standards (supposedly, they've had plenty of questionable recruits: Fab 5, Higgins, Traylor, etc...) and less NIL, plus the support and history make it harder to win there. Plus at IU, if there's a dollar in the athletic budget it's more likely to be spent on bball, and UM it's always going to football.

I don't think IU would have hired Dusty last year. There are still skeptics today.
