Dustin Dopirak on potential IUBB coaching candidate pool shrinking

Well, sounds like the first 5 choices have declined. All big time coaches.
2nd...When has IU gotten who they wanted as coach since Sampson? Crean was not top 5, Miller might have been top 5, but other big names turned it down ahead of him, Woodson obviously was not high on the list. So that's 3 consecutive hires, without getting a coach in the top 3 of their list. Did you hear Painter? Do you think coaches don't talk to each other? He didn't come up with that shit randomly. He has more knowledge than you, and straight up told you why IU can't get their preferred coach. If you want to lie to yourself fine, that's your perogative, but Miller, Woodson, and presumably the next coach, should all show you that you are wrong. IU basketball as many of us have known it throughout the majority of our lives, is dead. And the "fans" are atleast half of the problem.
Also...if he was wrong, why is Brad Brownell a candidate?

Sure coaches talk to each other but you REALLY think that a topic of conversation with other coaches is IU's fans?

I can just hear it.

Coach x - "Hey Mat, good to talk to you. IU has contacted me. Should I take an interview?"
Matt - "Hell no, their fans are crazy!"
Coach x - "Thanks, I will pass on the opportunity to make millions at IU. Maybe I will interview with Kentucky. I heard their fans are chill."
Matt - "I would if I were you. Kentucky fans are nice and reasonable. Glad I could help."

Have you lost your mind? Beard almost won a title at Texas Tech! He has taken three different teams to the tournament...
And multiple double-digit loss seasons. As I said, good coach. You think he's more than good. I think McCollum is the real deal. You aren't sold on him. Opinions differ.

I enjoy how you conveniently dismiss these two guys as not being worthy of coaching basketball and yet you were a very vocal supporter of Woody, a guy who had never coached a single college game when he was hired. On top of that, you want him retained after the crappy results.
If that's what you took from what I said, you have a comprehension problem. Re-read.

And then the claim that I want him retained...stupid. I said before the season, top 3 in BiG and an appearance in the 2nd weekend. Where and when did I deviate?

Why do you just make up random shit, and then act like it's true?

Yes...it absolutely plays into how desirable a job is. You can make up whatever scenario you want, but I said exactly what Painter said 2 months prior. Yu think there isn't talk of the IU job in coaching circles?..lmao...naive
The conversation is about the IU job...the fan base is part of that job, in fact, from what i hear, it's the absolute worst part.
How arrogant are you to disagree with a D1 head coach for 20+ years who grew up a fan of IU, and has been in the state his entire life? Lol...so blatantly ignorant.

Checking out details on Pitino made me think about John Beilein. They are the same age. I don't know if he has the health or desire to coach like Pitino but Beilein was a winner. He ran an offense that was fun to watch too.

Each year is basically a one year contract in college now. So his age wouldn't be used against him in recruiting quite like it use to be.

I know, not a serious candidate. Just another guy that I would reach out to before hiring BB, McDermott, or even BM. Maybe he could do 3-4 years.

The first 4 years of his D1 career,,,steller

We'll never know how Texas would've turned out, he DDT't his gf off the roof of his house.

Ole Miss is the Minnesota of the SEC, so he's doing some career rehab there.

I would have to have the face-to-face before I said yes or no.

Like I said, a troll that comes here to argue with IU fans about his team. The other discussion you’re involved in is just incidental, to pass the time until the next time you get to argue for your team & against ours.
Nope. Actually here to read and discuss the iu coaching hire. And you are derailing the thread to tell me I’m not here to do that. Ironic
