Rice tried to be the hero instead of bke9ing a team player.
How do You let a guy Who has barely seen the basket all night take Your last Shot?
What were the other guys supposed to do? Steal the ball from Rice? He got the ball and didn't look for anyone else the whole time... 1 on 5.

I know the coaching sucks, but another display, 2nd game in a row, where Rice shows he’s a low basketball IQ PG. Hasn’t scored all night. Barely has played because the team looked much better with Leal and Galloway sharing the point. Has Goode, Galloway, MM, all having good games and he goes 1 on 5, not looking at anyone else and puts up that shot.
Ballo is starting to think even all the money isn’t worth playing in this s@#t show.
Understandable though the way the ball was going in to the basket for him.
People often think that a close score means a team "almost won". But winning close games takes a lot of good execution and making key plays down the stretch. IU has no leadership, so falling apart at the end is more likely than not.
Rice didn't know what he was doing, and that is because Woodson doesn't maintain a disciplined team.
It means that if they go from being blown out to being in close games, they will still lose more than they win.

Oh, so as a combo guard, he’s bad as both a PG (too many TO’s and bad decision-maker) and SG (can’t shoot well from 2 or 3).
I think I would have inserted Tucker or Hatton in that situation instead of Rice. But, nonetheless:
1. Who inbounded to Rice? Blame for him, too?
2. Was Rice fouled on that shot? Hummel seemed to think the defender (Cox?) crashed into Rice's chest.
Remember, we had refs that couldn't tell whether a ball that made the backboard shake had hit the rim or not.
Painter was able to keep a straight face when he said this. Inside he was probably beaming ear to ear about his luck.

Better than saying “I looked down the sideline and saw Mike Woodson, and I knew we had a chance”
I don't know that Galloway thought, no one else will ever see the ball again when inbounding. But it also begs the question, do this players even know what to do in this situations? Do they practice them at all?
I wouldn't have called it a foul... and hardly any ref ever would in that situation.
I understand what you mean, but Dale Brown was way better than Woody could ever be at the college level. Both coaches paid players, but Brown did alot better.
Yes Brown’s resume has so much more in it. It’s that line..literally came out of RMK’s mouth during /after the fierce 87 regional final game.
Then he needs to f*****g sit. We actually played better when he sat due to foul trouble.
