I suppose we accept an NIT bid? I don’t see this team winning 3 games in BIG.

Absolutely we do. That’s OUR tournament. Gives the coaches a chance to learn about post season games and learn more about the college game. They weren’t ready for the big boy Dance and we all knew this. It will be good development for Woodson and staff.

It’ll be a road game. Indiana won’t let AH be on TV empty just like they did in the Crean era.

Why? Punishment or just what? That is one of the dumbest things Ive ever seen posted. Woodson played in NIT , Good chance to play some guys it will be home games
No different than setting expectations for NW game. With 68 teams now, it's an embarrassment. 48 teams in the NCAA in Woodson's day. Who wants to watch them coast and not finish another game in the NIT.

Dont let this team play seems to say you are setting up a punishment. Not happy with the yr but that is just stupid

We don't have a choice--if invited, we play. Decision to not accept an NIT bid would've had to be made last fall before the season. Only real way out is if G-d forbid a Covid breakout occurs, and then we have bigger problems than being a bad basketball team.

And besides, if we pull that with the NCAA next weekend, next time we're on the bubble don't think they won't remember.

It's not a punishment, it's an expectation. Playing in the NIT is a punishment for the program's brand. The NIT is an "everybody wins" trophy and if anything it's a reinforcement/reward for not closing games, making poor critical decisions and not stepping on the other teams throat when you have the chance. This team coasts and plays not to lose when they lead and they have for the last 4 years at least.

Answer this, if we win the NIT, do we hang a banner? Sorry but I'm old enough first hand to remember what good IU basketball was because I was there in person and I'm not going to apologize for having high standards.

your postings would belie your age . You seem to be saying basically the team should be punished for not meeting your expectations if they get an NIT invite. I was hoping for more as well but it's not like we have a team of drug dealers out there. Regardless a lot of hrs put in. I dont see your point if they want to play another game or 4 this yr.

To be fair we decided winning isn’t important when Crean became bigger than the program. It’s been this way for years.

It doesn’t hurt the IU “brand.”
There isn’t any brand left. No more so than a program like DePaul or any other mid-major. This is it. NIT is IU’s ceiling moving forward.

Not earning something isn't a punishment, it's not obtaining a reward. If they go and if I'm Woody, I would make it very clear it's not acceptable. I may not have agreed with all of RMKs tactics but I am fully aligned with his expectations for winning and flawless execution.

And he would play in the NIT to get more experience and coach another game. Only way RMK doesnt play is if there was some obvious screw job that kept us out and to make a point about it

Yep and it's sad but not shocking that academics have correspondingly dropped since the days of our last NCAA title...

I once had a young woman tell a young man of me, "Always see a rainbow". Have you met her, too? It changed my life, sending me into overdrive.

I don't know what to think about the game at this point. I'm still digesting it, and if I think about it too much I risk getting indigestion. It'll all be flushed down in the morning. Don't forget to wave "bye-bye" to the 2021-22 season, A Season Smelled Of Stink, subtitled, Flowers Wilted
