I know coulda, shoulda, woulda, not much can be done now. The plug should have been pulled on Woodson last year. I expected more preparation and attention to fundamentals from someone that played under Knight. They are haphazard at best. Absolutely no toughness. It is tiresome to play games of significance (ya know games against ranked or better competition) and be completely uncompetitive each. and. every. time. Rant off. I wonder if anyone cares in the Athletic Dept. that I don't view IU basketball as a must attend event or TV program to watch any longer.

I think the athletic dept and IU sees the declining revenue from poor attendance and reduced donations. I expect a change end of season.
They care. They’ve completely revamped how they view managing a football program, with the glimpse this past year at what an elite program can feel like, and do, for your school and athletic department.
I’m sure they are now more anxious than ever to get their bball program back to that. No one in the offices actually knows what an elite bball program feels like. But they do now know what it feels like on the football side.
And I can’t imagine the differences could be more stark between our football and bball programs right now. If the power structure changes, Dolson will fire Woodson at season’s end. And he’ll hire a proven winner and a good basketball coach. Hopefully it’s someone that can continue that, and thrive at IU.

Dolson was a manager under Knight in the 1980's. I think he was there in 1987. He knows.

I don’t think “caring” is the question. The question is willingness to give up on chasing ghosts to change everything to match our NIL powers with a program that is operating firmly under 2025 thoughts and philosophies.
Dolson's problem is that he doesn't have complete autonomy to make changes like this. They involve huge $$$ and contracts. So he can't act unilaterally and fire/hire dudes on his own. No AD could. So while Dolson might understand what is needed, he needs to convince the rest.
To be honest, no I really don't care much anymore. Sure I check scores and watch an occasional game ( I think I have watched one game this year from start to finish, and maybe ten minutes od three or four others) but I find myself with the same feeling after the game whether they win or lose and that's "meh". Not happy that they won or disappointed if they lose, basically just apathy at this point. I think a change in coaching and different attitude from the players would make a difference, but honestly I'm not sure? I do like following IU football now, so still a Hoosier fan of some sort.
I interact with and work with about 25-30 IU fans weekly. All of them just flat out do not care anymore. Yes, all of them. All 35/40 and older to 70s. Its rarely ever a topic of discussion anymore other than how sad this situation is. And these are people who used to schedule around everything to watch them play. I shit you not.
I watched 3-4 games last year. This year I’ve not watched a single game. I check the board to figure out if we’ve played. I will not watch another game while Woodson is the coach. I’d rather take sand paper to my eyes than to watch low energy, fundamentally unsound, low IQ basketball.
The family and I did get to go watch IUWBB handle the badgers a couple weeks ago. That was a nice to see good ball movement and hustle. We’re going back again for the Purdue game. Much more enjoyable to watch the ladies than the bricklayers.

That’s where the fans can come in and help. Stop going to games. Boo Woodson out of the building whenever we end up getting our asses lit up at home. Start the fire Woodson chant. A few hundred calls a day from fans to the BoT (or whoever) might help. Not sure about that last one, just spitballing here.
This is the first year since the early 80s I can say I haven’t watched a single game from starting tip to ending buzzer. I’ve watched parts/good portions of games this year, but not an entire game. I’ve missed more than a few entirely. It used to bother me if I had to miss even part of a game, let alone an entire game. It doesn’t bother me anymore.
Much of southern Indiana used to shutdown to watch IU play on TV Saturday afternoons. No farm work got done.
Used to be that would happen even if our opponent was Athletes in Action in an exhibition. I remember being at Midnight Madness in the 90s until 2-3am once. And it wasn’t a big production with lights, smoke machines and music. It was a practice. An actual practice. Crowd sitting there watching guys shoot FTs. And we sat there because we cared. We didn’t need to be entertained.
Describes me to a T. Used to get the seasonal schedule and write game times and TV channels in my calendar. Occasionally planned biz travel around it. That stopped a long time ago. I watched about 10 min last night before getting disgusted. Bundled up at halftime and took the dog for a walk. Came back, tuned in and now down 20+. Turned it off for good.
Rarely watched the last 2 seasons and not one full game this year. When I have watched, it’s the same script…lazy passes, poor D, getting lit up from outside, dumb shots, too many unforced turnovers, getting out hustled. Not enjoyable to watch at all.

I never missed a game, and most all of them weren’t on tv. Would go out to a place with satellite. Those places were always packed with IU fans. Now, everything is on my TV, but life is too short to waste the time watching. Too many other options of things to do.
A few games or more of boo's raining down on Woodson. Before the season is over will convince the rest...
My mom and dad were both IU graduates. We lived in the country and had a huge antenna tower put in that brought in Channel 4 and IU basketball much better than rabbit ears. Later, when ESPN and the Big Ten hooked up for Big Tuesday, they put in one of those huge old monster dishes that was needed to get ESPN, just for the couple times a year that IU was the Big Tuesday game. On top of that, they would schedule their Florida vacation around the IU schedule -- they would purposefully look for weeks that had IU playing the Big Tuesday game so they could get it on ESPN in their hotel.
I inherited that level of fanaticism. Maintained it for years, decades. But no more. I watch once I realize there's a game on -- which sometimes comes as a surprise -- but the times I've missed , win or lose, just don't effect me one way or the other. I've run out of Fvcks to give.

The football team's 1 year turn around creates a total WTF for the basketball program. It is way, way, way easier for IU basketball to get back on track, especially in the era of NIL and the transfer portal, than IU football. Yet, here we are, 4 years into a coach who's obviously not cutting it. Woody should have been canned last year. It's not a matter of can't at this point, it's a matter of won't. The idiots in charge that won't get this program back on track are the problem and need to go as well.
No. I waited all my life to become a season ticket holder and now that I am (4th year) I have only gone to 1 game this year and the rest are for sale. If Woodson is retained I’m letting them lapse.
Firing a coach and having an interim coach to finish the season won't help. There isn't anyone on the bench with the right kind of experience anyway. They (the donors who are in charge) decided the problem was Woody didn't have enough money to work with. He has that now. The season will play out and then they'll start over. The new coach can buy a whole new team on day 1.
I've been able to take my kids to a couple games already as tickets are so cheap. It's not the same atmosphere but it's still fun for them. The old student athlete basketball is gone. I don't know if IU's tradition really matters in the pro era.

This is a sacrificial year. It had to be done with all the legacy and "good ol' boys" issues that came with the Woodson hiring. Any questions, any benefits of the doubt, have been resolved. The end of last season wasn't the right time, but the end of this season is. He's done.

You just demonstrated that your two-year lack of interest has had zero effect on Woodson's job status. Nor has the lack of interest proudly proclaimed by 6-8 others in this thread just today generated any threat to Woodson's job.
I wish all the other posters that are bragging on this anonymous message board that they no longer care about IU would realize that their tactic won't do a damn thing.
If you're serious, get off your ass, make a sign and go picket in the snow by the athletic office. (Or maybe go picket Andy Mohr's office, Mark Cuban's office or Quinn Buckner's office.)
Also, there are dozens more games on TV now than before. You just can't watch them all.
At one time, almost all Big Ten games were scheduled for Thursday night and Saturday afternoon. Then, CBS got involved and bought the rights to televise an important Big Ten game or two on a Sunday afternoon. Then, they started having Big Ten games on "Big Monday" as well. Soon, games were on every day of the week, and all the other bizillion conferences were doing the same thing.
You just can't watch every college game.
When is this time when when most all of the games weren’t on TV but satellite dishes existed? And if it wasn’t on TV how did the satellite dish help?

I feel like you're correct. I'm not 100% convinced that this team can't still make the tourney, but absent some miraculous turnaround I'd have to think we'll be moving on. Then again IU has made some unusual calls in the past.
I don’t even look at the schedule anymore. Been watching games for more than 30 years since I was a little kid, and I’ve never been this apathetic.
If the admin won’t take it seriously then why should I?
Its this way pretty much everywhere. Two marquis opponents in the Bahamas....and IU gets smoked by both of them. Thats it....nothing else to see.
Hoosier Hysteria is now known as going crazy over the poorly coached product on the floor rather than going crazy over the excitement of a well coached product. Our AD and Buckner need to clean the closet of our entire coaching staff including our legends on the bench. If we want a legend, what happened to Fife who was trained by both Knight and Izzo? At the end of the season, our current coaches will have no one to coach, everyone will and should leave through the portal and oh, by the way, we have no one recruited to come next year while all the blue bloods have a closet full of signees already for next year. Duke is starting 3 freshmen this year without a rebuild. Real coaches get results from first year players.
